Overview
A fan of Dutch blue-and-white pottery? Don’t miss this 1-hour tour of the Delftse Pauw factory in Delft. A variety of tour times makes it easy to fit this charming experience into your sightseeing. Learn about the famous blue-and-white earthenware’s origins, how it’s made, and delight in the handmade piece you get to take home as a souvenir. After the tour, peruse the factory showroom and benefit from discounts on items you may purchase.
What to Expect
Delft pottery dates back to the 16th century and first was produced in Delft. Over time, this earthenware became an easier-to-obtain option than real Chinese porcelain and quickly became sought-after with wealthy Dutch people. From The Hague, take a 5-minute train ride to Rijswijk (Delft Noord) and meet your guide for a tour of the Delftse Pauw factory — one of the few remaining that carries on the tradition of making the beloved hand-painted pottery.

Gain insight into how this pottery is made and watch where the pieces are painted by hand to create the classic blue-and-white designs. Then gaze at the final product in the showroom, which displays an array of Delft pottery.

As a treat on this tour, take home your own authentic Delft piece, a perfect souvenir. Plus, enjoy discounts on any additional items you may like to purchase. If you like, you can arrange to have items shipped to your home (own expense).
