Overview
With 3,000 years of history, it’s no surprise that modern Rome sits above layers of ancient ruins hidden underground. On this tour, take a look beneath the city to discover catacombs and churches, pagan temples, and other subterranean treasures. Head below the churches of San Clemente and Santi Giovanni e Paolo with your guide and take a deep dive into the history of the Eternal City.

The history of Rome is fascinating indeed and certainly made more so by having a fabulous guide by your side and no better than Luca who is brilliant at narrating the importance of each of these on our Underground Rome and Catacombs tour. We never tire of taking guests on this journey through the centuries and it brings us out in goosebumps descending through the layers of Rome as we make our way back to early Christianity and how the ancient Romans lived through these dangerous and turbulent times. Thank you so much for letting us know how much you enjoyed and Luca will be thrilled to see what a great time you had with him. Be sure to come and visit us again soon so we can continue our story, Rome has much more to share with you! Pips

Other than a born and bred Roman guide whose enthusiasm and energy for all things historical is highly infectious, our Enrica does know all the very best places to dine and have early evening aperitivo! A social butterfly, we always recommend guests tap into her local knowledge and she is always so happy to give out tips of things to do other than just sightseeing. You chose a fantastic itinerary for those who wish to explore gems which are off-the-beaten-path and with our Rome Underground and Catacombs tour, descending through layers of history - what guides lovingly call the lasagna - we experience many centuries taking us all the way back to the first and early Christianity, a seriously interesting and thought provoking tour. Thank you so much for choosing this itinerary and for your wonderful words about Enrica, so happy you enjoyed it! Pips

Thoroughly enjoyed our guide, Thomas, his wealth of knowledge and his humor. He walked us through archaeology and history with a fast pace and a wry sense of humor in linking 2000 years of history. Heard he also gives a great tour of the Forum and the Colosseum.

We could not agree with you more: Thomas is absolutely outstanding, not only a walking encyclopedia (where does he store all that info I wonder???!!!) but is exceptionally good in how he narrates history which makes it fun to follow and easy to understand for everybody. He does give a brilliant tour of the Colosseum and Forum so be sure to book with us again when you are here and ask for Thomas, we will do our very utmost to schedule him for your next Roman adventure! We are truly grateful for the time you spent to write us as these reviews really assist us getting our name across to shores afar such as your own - thank you! Pips
