    Amazing Ancient Rome!
Dimitri was excellent as our guide to everything Ancient Rome. The pace was just right-we had time to take photos and ask questions but we packed in a lot of sights as well. Dimitri was knowledgeable, friendly and fun!

    Salute!!
Darius took us on a private tour of gastronomy. We stopped at lots of different places and ate so much different delicious food. We walked around discovering hidden gems, it was much more than the tasty treats. He is an awesome guide and host.

A special and fun way to see some highlights of Rome
Four of us had a great time with our tour guide Narimana. She took us for a whirlwind tour thru central Rome, from the Spanish Steps to the Trevi Fountain, a stop for incredible Gelato, thru Plazas & Cathedrals, street markets, then coffee granita (sooo good!), to a finish at a fantastic ristorante making the best pizza ever. What a joy it was to spend some time with our guide. The tour was something special for us. Highly recommend this fun adventure!

Our guide Dimitri was superb. Great knowledge of all aspects historically which he was able to portray with humour, wit and interest. He explained things so clearly and concisely, and kept everyone feeling that he was their personal guide. A wonderful experience for us.

    Small group tour with Dimitri
We had the pleasure of having Dimitri as our guide. He was knowledgeable, engaging and demonstrated great insight into Roman history across Palentine Hill, the Roman Forum and the Colosseum, including the arena floor. We had some older participants and Dimitri was conscious of this, we are a younger couple but it didn’t bother us at all. Dimitri generously offered to take pictures of the couples throughout the tour - he’s an excellent photographer! Highly rate this experience

    Colosseum tour - older couple
This was a wonderful small group tour of the Colosseum and surrounding ruins. The guide had amazing knowledge of the sites we saw and bought them alive for us, and he used a great sense of humour to good effect. He never rushed us when we had questions while still keeping to a schedule, and was also very thoughtful in managing the older people and those with small children in our group.

    Excellent Tour
Dimitri was a fantastic guide! He met us exactly were stated and was informative, funny, and interesting. It was a long day seeing the Vatican, the Colisseum, the Palatine Hill, and overlooking the Forum (which we then walked on our own); however, it was well worth it to see so much in a short time. Our guide Marina was also great at the Vatican. Super knowledgeable. Skipping the lines is essential.

    Vatican and Coloseum Wonders
The guides are so passionate about their history. It was wonderful to hear the past through their stories. Both tours are 3 hours long. By the end of the day our feet were so sore. If we knew we would of split the tours over two days, but, in saying this we had limited time in Rome and another full day tour the following day. Highly recommend.

The Best Way to see the Vatican
Our Towns of Italy tour guide for the Vatican was superb!! We had a small group of 5 and with our early morning tour we had no trouble with crowds and enjoyed every minute of our 3 hour tour of the Vatican, St Peter's and the Sistine Chapel. Our guide was pleasant, patient, knowledgeable and it was just a wonderful experience!!

We bought this tour specifically to have the skip the line entrance to St Peter's Basilica. We usually buy to the actual entities (Vatican museums, in this case), but we chose this because of what it guarantees.
However, once we got to the Sistine chapel, the guide noticed the passage to the basilica was closed. She said we needed to go other way. We then left the Vatican museums, walked for 20 minutes and waited for 50 minutes in the regular queue to enter the Basilica. When confronted about this, the guide argued that there was nothing she could do, that skip the line entrance was not guaranteed (according to the ticket conditions) and that we were lucky for her to stay with us explaining what we would find inside ("on the right you'll find X, and on the left Y"). No transparency whatsoever, just ignoring the fact that we were not getting what was supposed to.
This company is selling something that they cannot guarantee. I'm waiting from a proper response from them and the subsequent refund.

Dear Valued Customer, Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent experience with our shared tours. We appreciate your input, and we would like to address your concerns. We totally understand the frustration for a situation you've experienced, and your delusion as well. Unfortunately, no tour company will be able to guarantee any access to the basilica, let alone a skip the line ticket. As specified on our website and on our resellers' website: "Please note that the itinerary inside the Vatican Museums may vary, depending on restrictions decided by the museum board. Due to exceptional religious events, St. Peter's Basilica might be closed without any notice" Openings and accesses are exclusively decided by Vatican Museums board and they reserve the right to simply open and close without any notice, and this is out of any tour operator control. Allow us to say, though, that the guide remained in line with you explaining everything, because this is the right procedure in case there is a last minute restriction of the priority access to the Basilica, so I wouldn't say you were 'lucky', I would say our tour company cares about guests and makes everything to accommodate them the best way possible. Again, we are very sorry the experience didn't meet your expectations. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you on one of our tours again in the future, to show you that we can do better. Best regards, Florencetown - Towns of Italy Customer Care

Terrible waste of money and -more importantly- time. Our guide was 30+ minutes late because of “car trouble”, according to her colleagues, and eventually showed up without apologizing or even mentioning it.she seems generally discombobulated for the whole tour, unsure of her facts and pointing out random trivia rather than looking like she’d put any thought into any of it. She routinely referenced her phone to fact-check herself (I assume) and was the only guide (out of dozens that we observed) not to even be carrying a flag or easily visible item for the group to identify her with. (She would just take off her hat every so often and wave it around, hoping that we could fine her amidst of sea of tourists).
We eventually returned the headsets to her left the group midway through the tour as we figured we’d learn more from the plaques on each display than we would from her.

Dear Valued Customer, Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent experience with our shared tours. We appreciate your input, and we would like to address your concerns. Firstly we are sorry the experience didn't meet your expectations, and we are also sorry the guide was slightly on a delay due to a car trouble. We understand this might have seemed like a long waiting time. The guide was not 30 minutes late, though, since in this case you couldn't have entered Vatican Museums, because tickets would have expired. Also we have different feedbacks from the guide and some other clients who particularly liked the tour. Of course we had other complaints for the delay, but the guide was above all described as very sorry for the delay and also kind and competent. On the same date the guide also gave us feedback about your party not being too much interested in the tour except for Sistine Chapel, which was at the end, and for this reason you left the tour in order to proceed on your own. Of course we are not able to establish here which of the versions is corresponding to the truth, still we want to apologise that the service provided was not up to your expectations. We appreciate your feedback, and we would like to invite you to return and discover the multitude of tours we have available. Thank you once again for your feedback, and we hope to have the opportunity to serve you better in the future. Best regards, Florencetown - Towns of Italy Customer Care

Please be aware of this tour, it was a complete disaster. Our tour guide was barely understandable… His thick Italian accent was too strong to give an English tour properly. Also, his was so paranoid that someone in our tour group was going to walk away with the audio kit. He yelled at several of us because we went to the bathroom and did not let him know. ( I guess he assumed we were going to steal the audio kit from the Vatican ) after that We immediately left because he was so rude. In addition, even though this tour was advertised as a Saint peters tour as well as the Sistine chapel… We never stepped foot in Saint peters basilica. Total false advertisement. I would think twice before booking this tour service. As a matter fact, the tour guides associated with this company seemed extremely unprofessional, young and inexperienced.

Dear Valued Customer, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent tour experience. We take customer reviews seriously and appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. Firstly, we apologize for any difficulties you encountered with the tour guide's accent. We strive to ensure that our guides have excellent language skills to provide clear and engaging tours. We will thoroughly investigate this matter and take appropriate measures to improve the communication skills of our guides. We sincerely apologize if there was any miscommunication or misunderstanding regarding the inclusion of Saint Peter's Basilica in the tour. Our advertised itinerary clearly states that access to Saint Peter's Basilica is subject to availability and may be restricted from the Vatican itself due to unforeseen circumstances such as religious events. We regret any disappointment this may have caused you, but as a tour operator we have to follow and respect Vatican decisions and protocols. As for your perception of our tour guides being unprofessional, young, inexperienced and excessively concerned about the audio kits, we assure you that we have a rigorous selection process and provide comprehensive training to all our guides. We value professionalism and strive to ensure our guides deliver high-quality experiences to our customers. We will review our guide allocation process and training procedures to ensure that we continue to provide exceptional service. We genuinely appreciate your feedback as it helps us identify areas for improvement. We take your concerns seriously, and we will use this feedback to make the necessary adjustments to enhance the overall tour experience for our future customers. We value your patronage and hope to have the opportunity to restore your faith in our services. Best regards, Florencetown - Towns of Italy Customer Care

We opted for the earliest tour of the day, meeting at the Caffe Vaticano meeting point at 7:30 am. Our tour guide was Tatyana. Unfortunately, this experience didn't match the enjoyment of other tours we've taken on this vacation. While I don't doubt her knowledge of the Vatican, Tatyana struggled to make the tour interesting and engaging. She would abruptly shift from one topic to another, often getting distracted. Her delivery lacked captivating anecdotes and felt more like a dry lecture aimed at students preparing for an exam. She occasionally stuttered and inserted Russian words, also sharing unrelated stories about her child or she spend so much money studying during her younger years that didn't connect with our tour.

Tatyana tended to talk excessively about aspects not directly related to the paintings and sights within the Vatican. She frequently repeated phrases like "I told you earlier," “I like I said” “see I told you” which became frustrating. Although knowledgeable, it would have been more engaging if she could stick to one topic and complete her thoughts before moving on. We chose the earliest tour to avoid crowds, but unfortunately, we found ourselves packed into the too crowded in the golden ceiling room due to lengthy digressions, it’s like we took the afternoon tour.

Despite this experience, I still believe in the value of guided tours to avoid ticket hassles and gain deeper knowledge. However, I would prefer a different guide next time. During our tour, one family even opted to leave in the middle of Tatyana's talk, returning their earphones, as they found it too dull to continue.

Not sure why both Florencetown/Towns of Italy and Vatican Tickets and Tours by Headout are asking me to review this tour. I'm not even sure now who was organising it, or who I booked with!

The tickets advised that the guide would be at the meeting point holding a white flag with Towns of Italy on it. There was no sign of the guide when we arrived and we were the only group that didn't have our guide.

Eventually I spotted her but she was sort of clutching the flag to her body with her arms over it. She was the English guide and the Spanish guide hadn't shown up and we were told that the agency was sending a new guide, so we were late starting.

Start time was supposed to be 10.15, with an end time of 1.15pm. We actually didn't start until around 11am by the time we got inside, tickets were sorted and head sets secured. The tour finished at 12.40, so it was much shorter than advertised.

Our guide, Simone, was very good and knowledgeable but it was quite difficult to hear her at times as her voice was very low and the head sets weren't good, particularly in the Basilica. Also, it was extremely busy at that time, almost impossible to move with lots of other tours, and also guides who were much louder.

Overall, I thought it was disappointing and not worth the price of €118 for two.

Dear Valued Customer, Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent experience with our shared tours. We are very sorry that the experience didn't meet your expectations. To clarify your doubt, the tour is produced by Towns of Italy, while Headout is just a reseller. At Towns of Italy we are very eager to receive direct feedback from clients, in order to take them as occasions to improve our services. Thank you again for taking your time and thank you for your patience in waiting for another guide, since the originally assigned one had an accident. Said so, we'll certainly share what you've mentioned about the coordinator holding the sign in a 'not so visible' way. We appreciate your feedback, and we are taking this situation as an opportunity to improve our experiences. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you on one of our tours again in the future and to show you that we can absolutely do better. Best regards, Florencetown - Towns of Italy Customer Care

We did the first tour of the day on a Tuesday in early June, and by the time we were an hour in, it was packed. Our tour guide Milica was excellent, though, and made it feel as if we were in our own bubbled group. Her command of the Vatican's history, cultural significance and the detail she provided regarding the many significant works of art we saw were truly impressive. She was entertaining and engaging. Good vibes all around.

not a nice experience, not due to the company Towns of Italy, but because the Vatican is allowing too many people to enter and visit at the exact same time. It was one of my worst experiences ever. Thousands and thousands of people in the museum, in the garden, everywhere.
The Sistine Chapel: a total disaster: guards yelling, visitors overwhelmed, stepping on your feet, no time to just stop and watch. IMPOSSIBLE. Guards kept yelling "Keep moving, keep moving". It was so crowded. HORRIBLE. What a shame, because it is a unique place, tickets costs quite a bit of money, and the experience wasn't positive at all.

What an amazing experience! Our guide was very knowledgeable! She did a great job!!! Her tips prior to reaching the Sistine Chapel really helped us look for the most famous sections of the ceiling and what to look for. Rome was much busier than it is historically during this time of year!! It should have been a lot less crowded since it was early morning but she got that right away and did her best to make sure we got the most out of the tour! Very kind, very attentive!

The tour was amazing.. our guide Maristella is one of a kind: she told us the history and the secrets of the Vatican with such passion that it felt like we we re watching a live documentary. She talked about th3rooms in the Vatican museum ,explained the details from Michelangelo s work and turned the visit in the Sistine Chapel into a memorable experience. She was kind and funny and if I could I would give her 500 ☆. Thank you Maristella and Towns of Italy for making this experience so fun :)
