Overview
While vacationing in Rome, spend time away from the big city without doing a ton of planning on a guided tour of Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius. Hike to Mt. Vesuvius' crater and explore Pompeii with a guide, discovering lesser-known historical info as you go, and don’t worry about lunch or entrance fees because pizza and admission are both included.
What to Expect
Your tour of Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius starts with pickup in central Rome.
Board an air-conditioned vehicle, and make the ride over to Mt. Vesuvius. At Mt. Vesuvius, your guide leads you on a hike to the top of the old volcano. At the top, catch sight of the Bay of Naples, and sights inside the crater. Please note from late November to late March, you’ll explore the National Archaeological Museum of Pompeii instead of the short hike.
Afterward, take a break and enjoy a pizza lunch before making your way over to Pompeii—a UNESCO World Heritage Site and former Roman city.
Once you arrive in Pompeii, follow your guide on a tour, and learn the history of the area. See the Forum and Teatro Grande as you go.
Your tour ends with a ride back to Rome.

This is a *big* tour with a lot of people on a bus. Our guide, Angela, was a free-spirited, human encyclopedia of ancient Rome. My son repeatedly asked me, "how does she remember all of this information?!" Angela's stories and info made the bus ride...More

Amazing day trip out of Rome. Sean was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and entertaining while managing two different groups. Bring good walking shoes and lots of water!

Yes I think you could. I’d email the tour company to double check though.

This week we are at Ristorante Tiberius which was closed down for just us as a group. The pizza was great and it the restaurant was far enough away from the tourist chaos of Pompeii's ruins to bit be offputting.

It is a steady climb with 3 sets of switchbacks. One couple on our bus made it to the third ring. They have it divided into 3 rings at the top as to how far you make it. About 1/2 the bus made it the the first ring to view... More
