Itinerary
Your day begins with a pickup from your Rome hotel or a central meeting point determined by your tour guide. As you leave Rome by coach, you’ll travel north along the River Tiber traveling 1.5 hours to reach the Umbria region.

The tour stops first in Orvieto, a quaint hilltop village famous for its 13th century Gothic cathedral. Here you’ll explore town on foot taking time to explore the mosaics, sculptures, and stained glass of the Orvieto Cathedral.

After enjoying lunch on the shores of Lake Trasimeno, you’ll head to the UNESCO World Heritage town site famous for being the birthplace and home of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of Italy. A walking tour of Assisi passes by all the sites important to the life of St. Francis including the stall where legend has it he was born.

On the drive back to Rome, you'll stop by the Santa Maria degli Angeli to visit the 9th-century basilica where St. Francis was thought to have one day worshipped. The day trip ends once arriving back in Rome.
