    What to Expect
Start your trip outside Berlin’s Hackescher Markt Station. Join up with your guide and take a 15-mile (24km) train journey outside the city center to Potsdam, once the home to German royalty.

Stop by the palace of Cecilienhof, the site of the famous 1945 conference between the United States, Soviet Union, and United Kingdom, where Truman, Churchill, and Stalin would seal Germany and Europe’s fate for the 20th Century, laying the groundwork for the Cold War. Continue to King Frederick William II’s Marble Palace, with its recreated Greek temple and scenic lakeside setting. From there, make your way through the 18th-century Nauener Gate and into Potsdam’s quaint Dutch quarter.

Break for lunch at your choice of several cafes in Potsdam’s town center. Stop off for a German beer or try some traditional coffee and cake. Once you’ve refueled, make your way through Potsdam’s own Brandenburg Gate (built before Berlin’s) to a UNESCO World Heritage Site: Frederick the Great’s Sanssouci Palace and Gardens.

Your walking tour will finish next to the Sanssouci Palace. Your guide will then take you on public transportation back to Berlin or, if you prefer, you can stay in Potsdam on your own to enjoy more of the gardens, visit the inside of one of the palaces, or even stay for dinner.

Polly, our guide, met us in Hackersche Markt and from the outset was very professional and gave an early overview of the day ahead. Train to Potsdam, off and a short bus route to the start of the walk. Variety of WW2 and Prussian history,...More

Had a great tour of Potsdam with Gregor. He was very knowledgable and presented the information in an entertaining and interesting manner. We walked, took busses, and trams. There were enough stops that this tour is doable for any person with average fitness level.

Potsdam is roughly 40 minutes from Berlin by public transport (make sure that if you're buying a travel card that it includes Zone C which covers Potsdam). Our guide Kai did an excellent job of explaining both the more recent and distant history of Potsdam...More

Potsdam is about 1 hr from Berlin Central Station and it is well worth a visit. I would recommend a hop on hop off tour or a guided walk as there is so much to cover. The Sansucci palace and gardens is only one of...More

Just viewing from outside. If you want to see the palaces, it's better to buy the tickets before. Some of our group wanted to buy tickets, but there were no tickets available.
