Salzburg and Lake District Day Tour from Munich
From US$59,00
Immerse yourself in Salzburg, sights from the ‘The Sound of Music’ movie and Austria’s Lake District on a day trip from Munich. Absorb the beautiful Lower Bavarian Alps as you journey south to Salzburg, and enjoy free time to explore its churches, squares and filming locations from the ‘Sound of Music’ movie independently. Continue through the Lake District toward the postcard-pretty town of St Wolfgang, and ogle the glorious mountain scenery on an optional boat trip on Lake Wolfgang. Lastly, return to Munich via gorgeous Lake Mondsee, where several scenes from the ‘Sound of Music’ movie were filmed.
What to Expect

Pass through the Chiemgau before arriving in Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart. Stroll the picturesque old city and major attractions including Salzburg Cathedral, St Peter's Abbey and Mozart Square.

On Lake Wolfgangsee, there is the possibility of a boat ride to the famous White Horse Inn overlooking the lake, and a visit to the pilgrim church.

Upon your return journey to Munich, you will pass by Lake Mondsee, which was used in several scenes of the much-loved movie 'The Sound of Music'.

Wonderful old town

So enjoyed the fortress, the churches the horse baths and walking the old streets. Also touring the whole area was breathtaking, one of the best areas to see in Austria

the boat ride was included in my tour. I'm not sure what they do in November. However, the boat was enclosed and had windows. On my day it was rainy, but apparently its a fantastic view.
