- Relax381724586760 contributionsVery Professional and Fun!Faizan was very professional and friendly, making sure we had background info and got to the places we needed to. Overall, very friendly and made sure the trip went smoothly.Written 18 September 2024
- Paradise133647195750 contributionsA thing of beauty is a joy for ever.I and my wife(Sr. citizens) traveled on 16th September on the VIP tour. The bus was very luxurious and the driver Erin was courteous and a very safe and good driver. Although it rained throughout the day,he maintained the schedule. Daisy, our guide was fabulous. She kept us informed and ensured that we were not only kept updated but also ensured that we saw everything during the tour. Highly recommended.Written 17 September 2024
- weststand840 contributionsGreat day out. Lots of walking.A thoroughly enjoyable day out. A very well organised tour and our guide Monica was good. It does perhaps go without saying, but anyone with mobility issues should think carefully. Whilst there are shuttle buses, the journey up still requires some walking and there are lots of stairs inside the castle. The tour schedule is tight and you are advised to walk back down afterwards, which takes a good 20 mins. Great day, superb scenery.Written 15 September 2024
- fcgreyes0 contributionsWell recommended tour!Amazing tour. The bus had a lot of leg room and snacks. Our guide Monika and driver Senat took great care of us. The castles were definitely worth seeing! Very much recommended!Written 15 September 2024

- V5815VFabbyh0 contributionsGuide is niceThe places are good, but the time is a bit tight. The shuttle bus is on time, and all of the tourists are on time. However, the queue is a bit mess, and no body control the line and provide guidance to the tourists. Hope it will be improved in the future.Written 15 September 2024
- 639jiamint0 contributionsWhat an amazing day!It was a fantastic trip. Absolutely worth it. We were blessed with sunshine and perfect weather. The tourist although curt and polite seemed very annoyed when I asked a question about the website info that said cash only when it turned out to be card only. I knew it wasn’t his fault but he just seemed annoyed that I asked. Tell people before they board the bus to avoid the confusion. I was disappointed that there was hardly any historical facts given while on the tour and the small information he did give out was spoken so softly I didn’t catch most of it. I felt that I was not given a “tour” but paid for an expensive bus ride and entrance fee with someone telling me what direction to go and when to meet back on the bus. Not good at all, I wished I had paid for a better tour.

Without any doubt, a private guide would be better in your case. A big tour affords, that the guide work for everyone, and sincerely not everyone want to be teached about history 10 hours. Some people just want to see the landscape, other want special information, and others just want to spend a vacation day without disturbances (like guides talking all time).
If you had contact me before, I would give you a better consultance. But you decided to do by yourself. Next time write to guide@sightseeing-munich.com

What an amazing tour this was!! Well worth the time and money! While the Eagles Nest isn’t large and doesn’t take a lot of time, it is quite the experience to be there and learn about more of the authentic history and to visually see it. We had very dismal weather which impacted views but really added to the feeling. We walked to the top of the mountain peak. It was surprising that we were all fogged in but just as we were about to board the bus, we looked up and the fog had lifted over the Eagles Nest and we got a great view!
We were fortunate and had Elisabeth as our tour guide and Robert, as our bus driver. Elisabeth is a wealth of knowledge about the WW2 history and much more. Being a tour guide is so obviously not just her job. It is her passion and she exudes this from start to finish. Our day ended in an unfortunate manner as there was much sad flooding in the area and it was difficult to find a route that would allow us to get back to Munich. Robert did an absolutely amazing job of taking us down different backroads, some of which worked and some of which resulted in us having to back up. Both, he and Elisabeth were excellent at maneuvering this unexpected event. Again, highly recommend this tour and the very competent and engaging staff, Elisabeth and Robert.

Elizabeth was an excellent guide with equally excellent English! We learned a lot on this tour from the minute we started our drive out of the city which was appreciated, understanding some of the historical context of the buildings, streets, and districts. The tour was informative, and her instructions were very clear regarding meeting points and times.
One point - there were no wifi or charging capabilities on this bus compared to other tours I have taken in the past, so please plan accordingly since it makes for a very long day!

This was a very informative tour, with an enthusiastic guide, who provides an abundance of interesting nuggets of information about the region, the history and notable accomplishments, throughout the journey. This is clearly what separates such a decision to book, from the chance to go it alone. All is taken care of by the tour company, which makes the very long day, go by with very few setbacks. There was enough time to enjoy and explore the site, because the interiors are rather limited in scope.
The weather is the biggest gamble, which is where Alpine regions can make or break your photo album. We arrived to a prolonged downpour. Views of and from the summit were extremely limited for the entirety of the trip, which was extremely disappointing, especially when you look at the postcards. The documentation museum is well worth time dedicated to it and the audio guide therein, is simply fascinating. The guide and driver combine wonderfully to engage the tour participants for both stretches of the long journey from Munich, pointing out and slowing down (where possible) to allow scope and splendour to be fully absorbed. Highly recommended...if only the weather was as good!

This was a very educational/informative tour. The tour guide Elisabeth was very prepared and able to provide information on way to destination, while at destination and on way back. Was able to answer any questions that any of the tourists had. With the documentation center being renovated we were able to go for a walk down to the ruins of the Berghof. Would recommend that anyone who has an interest in world war 2 take this tour.

Excellent trip! Myself, my mum and two daughters (50, 72, 20, 15) booked a trip to Munich for this tour. It's something my mum has always wanted to see all her life since my grandfather fought in WW2 and received the Burma Star, her interest in WW2, Third Reich especially was cemented. We went with Gray Line Tours from Munich. Our guide was Caroline (short black hair, pink lippy, large sunglasses) and she was a lovely lady, gave us lots of information and facts about Munich, Berchtesgaden, Obersalzburg and most importantly WW2 history of Hitler's mountain residence The Kehlsteinhaus Eagle's Nest. She held our full attention for the 2 hour scenic journey to Berchtesgaden. We arrived and had time for refreshments in the nearby restaurant overlooking the mountain peaks. Then Caroline met us for our shuttle bus to take us up the Obersalzburg. It was extremely high! Then from the parking area halfway up Caroline took us in the brass elevator to The Eagle's Nest. My mum was very tearful and said she felt like she'd walked straight into a history book ! The panoramic views were just amazing! We were so lucky with the weather, beautiful crystal clear, sunny day, we could see forever. We took lots of photos to remember the day always. The snacks, drinks and souvenirs to our surprise weren't overpriced. We were able to get a seat outside on the verandahs with a priceless view. After Caroline took us back down, our group were able to browse through the souvenir shops and have a bite to eat with a view again. Then back on the comfy bus for a ride through Berchtesgaden Town, adorable, then off back to Munich with Caroline giving us lots more info about Bavaria. All in all we would do this again in a heartbeat! Excellent tour, brilliant guide, value for money, simply fantastic day, especially for my little mum. I'm so pleased I was able to make this happen for her, she was so happy. Thank you!

Great tour! Long bus ride (2 1/2 hrs), but definitely worth the wait. You go on this tour for the views and the Nazi history, not so much the eagles nest building as it is basically just a restaurant, with a small hallway museum. And I would recommend if the documentation museum is not open, to walk with Elisabeth to Hitler’s home, the trek is steep but worth it! The tour guide Elisabeth is amazing!! Definitely ask for her! Gives so much facts and information the whole ride to Berchtesgaden and the way down!

Our tour guide was Elizabeth, and our driver was Carson. They were both excellent. When we booked the tour, we expected mainly transportation and tickets as appropriate, but little else. We were really surprised and very pleased to find out that this was a fully guided tour. Elizabeth was extremely knowledgeable about the history, and provided great historical content throughout the tour. She was also fantastic with communication about where and when to meet her to do additional guided activities throughout the afternoon, and there were plenty of guided versus self-guided options. Carson did a great job of efficiently getting us to and from the locations, and the bus was very comfortable, and featured drinks and a full lavatory. Would definitely recommend!

The night before our Eagle’s Nest tour, lightning struck their elevator, so it was closed. Now that is obviously not Gray Line’s fault, BUT, we were not given the opportunity to choose whether or not to continue with their impromptu backup plan (in which we had zero interest). They made the reservation call to the Eagle’s Nest after we’d already embarked, and so we were basically trapped on the bus. Also, our guide didn’t do a head count or announcement before our (replacement) salt mine tour, and despite waiting right outside the entrance, our tour left without us.
After this catastrophe of a day, the company’s customer service was absolutely abysmal. The rep was rude, and we had to press them very hard for even a small partial refund.
If you can use a different tour company, do.

After having refunds 2 times and hot willing to understand, that we cannot call in advance without knowing how many go inside, and not willing to understand, that lightnings are not under our control I can just say: If you can read other reviews from a person who has a better understanding and definetely is not trying to go for free.

Booked this tour for ourselves and our teenager (16yo) for a bit of history. Bit of an early start from the city centre followed by a couple of hours' drive into the German Alps. Very good English speaking guide.
Entrance to Eagles Nest is not included - payment is card only. This is clear in the conditions but worth mentioning. The ticket also gives entrance to the museum.
Eagles Nest is ...weirdly touristy for a place with a dark history. They do a decent Apfelkuchen. The views are stunning of the weather is clear.
The museum (Dokumentationzentrum) is very thoughtfully done and worth the visit.
There is a traditional beerhall type restaurant in the same complex, which does a top Schnitzel and a couple of souvenir shops (which seemed a bit tacky given the history, but such is tourism).
This is worth the trip for the views and for history buffs.

Written 5 August 2019
It depends on how much you want to explore when you get to Obersalzberg. You are going to be on a bus for 1/2 the day. Back and forth from Munich, then up and down to Kehlsteinhaus. When you're up at Kehlsteinhaus, there is a lot of exploring you can do further up the mountain peak, down below you can walk to the Document Center, into the Bunkers, over to the remains of the Berghof, etc. So, if your little one is up for exploring that day - you'll definitely get more out of it. I don't recall seeing anyone with strollers - the fold-up umbrella style would be your best bet.
