Visit: Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte, 77950 Maincy France

This admission ticket gives you access to the Vaux-le-Vicomte Palace and the gardens in Maincy. You can use your admission ticket any time during the opening hours. On the day you want to visit, make your own way to the palace.

It took five years and almost 20,000 men to build this castle in Vaux-le Vicomte. Nicolas Fouquet picked a trio of very famous artists to design his domain, including Louis Le Vau, who was a famous architect in Paris who had designed several chateaux and buildings. The gardens were one of Le Notre's masterpiece which helped him to become famous. He was the creator of the concept of the "jardins à la française" which goal was to create both perspective and illusion of space. The last artist to work on the project was Le Brun who was a great painter and decorator.

Walk through the rooms of the palace to see the it lavishly decorated with stunning gilded walls, statues, tapestries, and the era's finest furnishings. After you're done exploring the palace, head outside to the gardens to see its fountains, canals, and stone curbs.

Visiting Vaux-le-Vicomte puts you at the scene of one of the most cold-blooded accusations of lese majeste (“to do wrong to the sovereign “) in history as Jean-Baptiste Colbert engineered the fall of his rival Nicholas Fouquet for embezzlement committed by their joint mentor Cardinal...More

As it turns out there were only eight people on the bus to the Château and very few people visiting so the advanced ticket was not necessary, but when it’s busy I assume it would really be essential.
