Versailles by Bike Day Tour

Overview

See the splendors of Versailles, inside and out, on this full-day tour from Paris. Hop aboard an RER train with your guide and head straight to the historic home of the French monarchy. Take a bike tour of the palace grounds, discover spots most visitors miss, and enjoy a picnic lunch (own expense) next to the Grand Canal. Then venture inside the palace for an in-depth audio tour.

What to Expect

Meet your guide in central Paris and embark on a journey to Versailles: included round-trip train tickets make it easy to travel on the RER. Upon arrival in Versailles, pick up your bicycle and other equipment, and set off on an in-depth tour.

Begin at a bustling village market, where you can pick up a baguette, cheeses, and other traditional French nibbles (own expense) for lunch. Before you eat, work up an appetite biking around the palace’s sprawling grounds. See the Grand and Petit Trianons, visit Marie Antoinette’s Hameau, and discover other corners that on-foot visitors would miss. After your ride, enjoy your picnic lunch next to the Grand Canal.

The tour continues with guaranteed entrance to the palace. With an audio tour accompaniment, explore the Hall of Mirrors, King’s State Apartments, and King’s Chapel at your own pace, and learn more about Versailles’ (literally) rich history.

Your day in Versailles ends when you board an RER train bound for Paris.

Great Way to See Versailles and the Surrounding Grounds

My 2 sons and I took the bike tour around Versailles at the recommendation of my wife and daughter who had done it 2 months prior on a girls generational trip. My teenage boys who are generally hard to please even enjoyed the tour. Our...More

Fun Experience!

My wife and I did the bike tour of Versailles and loved it. We've been to Versailled before but only saw the main building. This was a lot more fun and interesting to actually see the gardens and side buildings. We went to a market...More

Great for family.

Jack from Scotland did a great job with 23 riders with 5-6 kids under 10. Great picnic with really insightful advice for the market. I will say though that his advice to use French, be polite, and spend money did not work with the cafes...More

Biking with Royalty

Our tour guide, Sam, was excellent. She recounted the history of each area of the grounds before we set off to explore. Marie Antoinette’s Hamlet was beautiful, and the palaces and gardens provided backdrops exquisite enough to inspire jealousy in all of my Facebook Friends....More

Best way to see Versailles!

I took a tour with Fat Tire along with 10 other members of my family. We learned a lot and the bikes allowed us to see parts of the Versailles grounds that would be difficult if only covered on foot. Our guide was Samantha and...More

My folks (70) were on our trip. As others have said, if your mom can ride a bike with confidence, then it should not be a problem. The route is flat for the most part and the brief riding on streets was in town with very... More

Their website FAQ has descriptions of the bikes. In there, it shows tandems for a child to ride with adult, but nothing about adult-adult tandems.

On the bike tour you were able to go into Marie Antoinette's chateau and the lines weren't very long there. You also got to see her little country Hamill from the outside. The main Palace of Versailles was a separate tour... More
