Overview
Reims makes for a great jumping off point for a Champagne tour—but self-driving and bubbly are far from perfect partners. On this small-group Champagne tour, you can relax and drink in both the scenery and the Champagne (with six total tastings), as your local guide takes the wheel and navigates you around Champagne central. The tour includes visits to vineyards and a boutique winery, plus a tasting class and a French lunch.
Highlights
  • Explore France’s Champagne wine region from its capital, Reims
  • Taste plenty of bubbly at a Champagne house and boutique winery
  • Learn how Champagne is made and its history and flavor profile
  • Small group and local guide ensures personal service
What to Expect
Meet your guide and small group outside Reims train station and hop into your comfortable minivan. As you drive along Epernay’s Avenue du Champagne, your guide points out the houses of Pol Roger, Perrier Jouët, Moët et Chandon, and more. Walk through several famous Champagne vineyards, including either Moët et Chandon or Billecart-Salmon, and learn how the humble grape travels from vine to bottle and tour the historical village of Hautvillers where Dom Perignon lived. Discover even more about how Champagne is made with a tasting class at a restored Champagne house. Dig into a gourmet lunch with French fare, such as baguette, cheese and ham, which is paired with Champagne. Next, visit a boutique family winery and tour the grape press, vat room, and aging cellars. Enjoy a tasting of their more popular cuvées and purchase anything that you fancy before your guide drops you back at the train station.
