Overview

Learn about the 1916 Rebellion in Dublin on this interactive walking tour. Avoid the hassle of navigating on your own and simply follow your guide to important landmarks, including City Hall and Dublin Castle. See bullet holes marking the exterior of the General Post Office and hear stories from your local guide about revolutionary figures including James Connolly and Michael Collins.

What to Expect

Meet your guide at the International Bar in Dublin where the tour begins with an intro to Ireland’s revolutionary period, from the Irish Famine of the 1840s to the 1916 Rising.

The first walking tour stop is Trinity College, followed by Old Parliament, and Rosie Hackett Bridge where you learn about the women of the revolution, from Countess Markievicz to Rosie Hackett.

The tour continues to Daniel O’Connell’s memorial and Jim Larkin’s statue. See the bullet and shrapnel holes marking the exterior of the General Post Office on O’Connell Street.
Also on the tour are Michael Collins’ offices, the Henry Grattan Bridge, and City Hall. The final stop is a visit to Dublin Castle, the seat of the British Administration before 1922.

The tour finishes at Dublin Castle, but you can return to International Bar for a drink or lunch (own expense).

Hugely informative & entertaining.

We learnt so much about Irish history and Dublin, in particular, on this most excellent tour. Lorcan Collins is charismatic and compelling as a guide. No to be missed. As English visitors, we too long for a united Ireland.

Fantastic tour

Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, he is a professor of history. Easy spot to find for the start of the tour. Great introduction to the history around the rising. Inspired me to buy multiple books on Irish History. Can’t recommend this tour enough.

The walk lasts about two hours or a little bit more as I recall but not exhausting as frequent stops. I have some difficulty physically with walking distances or too fast but I had no issues.
