Kilkenny City, Wicklow Mountains and Glendalough Day Trip from Dublin
From US$43,59
Overview
Learn about Irish folklore and medieval architecture on this hassle-free day trip to Glendalough and Kilkenny from Dublin. Avoid the stress of organizing transport and activities, and let a guide do the hard work for you. Combine visits to Glendalough’s monastic settlement, Wicklow Mountain National Park, and Kilkenny Castle with a sheep herding demonstration, and travel with ease between the dispersed landmarks. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included for added convenience.
What to Expect
Begin your tour with convenient pickup at your Dublin hotel, where you’ll climb aboard a comfortable tour vehicle and set out into the Irish countryside. Enjoy the scenery and leave the driving to your guide on the way to Kilkenny Castle.

Listen to your guide’s commentary on the history of the castle, built in the 12th century on the River Nore. Spend some free time exploring the chambers and the rose garden at your own pace, before heading out into the village of Kilkenny. Stroll the cobblestone streets, taking in sights of the monasteries, cathedrals, and Tudor-style houses. Meet up with your guide for a last stop at the 12th-century St. Francis Abbey Brewery before departing.

Back on the bus, head over the picturesque Wicklow Gap into Wicklow Mountains National Park. Keep your camera at the ready and take advantage of the fact that someone else is driving, using that time to snap photos of the dreamy scenery instead. Stop at a local sheep farm to see Border Collies doing what they do best: herding sheep, a long-standing Irish tradition.

Once you reach the glacial valley of Glendalough, take in sights of the glacial lakes and stop at the medieval monastery and tower. After an orientation from your guide, spend a while exploring independently before boarding the bus and returning to Dublin for drop-off.

Lovely day tour out of Dublin

Great day tour filled with beautiful sites. Our guide, Aisling was very knowledgeable and provided great commentary throughout the trip. Our driver, Paddy was also great. We really enjoyed the entire day.

Great Guide!

Asling was wonderful! She is very knowledgeable and kept use on time. Go in April. You get to see the lambs! We went in a different order than listed but the order we went (Kilkenney last) made more sense.

There was so much to see on this trip. Would have loved to stay longer in Kilkenny, but we enjoyed our time exploring the town. The Wicklow mountains were beautiful and we saw some deer along the way. The day we went, March 19, the...More

Great Day in Ireland

The day trip was awesome and allowed us to see the countryside of Ireland as well as the beautiful scenery on the way. Aisling was an incredible and knowledgeable tour guide, and Sean's driving was extremely impressive, given the massive bus and narrow roads. The...More

We arrived back between 530 and 6 I believe. It's not as long as some of the other day trips. But the longer ones are worth it as well!

Carol, one of the pick up points is near the Trinity Hotel. It's at the Ulster Bank bus stop at 33 College Green. You'll find it just outside of Abercrombie & Fitch. It's only about a 500 meter walk from your hotel.
