So much done in one day!
Oct 2019
We have used TripAdvisor to book tours in Europe many times in the past and have always had great experiences. This tour was no exception.
The check in at Heuston Station was smooth and easy to find. The rail accommodations were very comfortable and on time. We experienced rain pretty much the entire day we toured which could have ruined the day but our host arraigned extra cabs rides so that we didn’t have to walk to much in the pouring rain.
Our host Paddy was outstanding! He was knowledgeable, friendly and embodies the charm and character that the Irish are known for. Can not recommend this tour and tour company enough.

Lucky to have a small group!
Very well organized tour. Very easy to find our guide at the train station. Terrence McMullen was a great guide that gave us lots of history to set up our tour. Trains were clean and modern with lovely views on our way to Kilkenny. Kilkenny was a quaint little town, rich with history. Loads of shops and restaurants. Waterford Crystal factory was fascinating to learn the craft of fine crystal manufacturing. The show room had common pieces and specialty pieces only available from their showroom. Terrence was very knowledgeable and had lots of interesting facts along the way.

Dublin to Kilkenny then Waterford with Paddy
Jul 2019
This was by far the BEST tour I have ever taken. Paddy was the Best tour guide and if I ever go back to Ireland, I would love to have him with me. He was a wealth of information, had a great sense of humor and stayed with us at all time.
My only suggestion is if you have back issues or walking problems., it would be best to take a cab from the Kilkenny train station to the castle and meet him thereas it is a pretty long walk for those of us with issues.

Waterford tour is a highlight
May 2019 • Family
Travelling by train was very comfortable - there is a food cart on board for snacks/coffee and bathrooms. Meeting the guides was very easy as well. Both Kilkenny and Waterford were good places to visit, and seeing the Irish countryside was lovely. I think the guided tour at Waterford was my favorite, I have a greater appreciation for the craftsmanship after seeing how they make the pieces. There was plenty of time to explore at each place. Our guide, John, very clearly made a great effort to help us understand Irish history a bit and the overall area we were travelling through. A comment on overall logistics of checkin - you are advised to be at Heuston station by 6:40, but this train is the last rail tour to leave and departs at 7:25. There is a bit of mayhem while the larger tours are checking in for earlier trains and we were told to just wait until everyone left to check in anyway so there was no point in being there so early. I would recommend the check-in time be adjusted for this tour to be more realistic and give people more time in morning - not much point in sitting around a train station for an extra 20 minutes.

Kilkenny & Waterford Train Trip
Sep 2018 • Couples
On Thursday, September 27, 2018, my daughter and I took the Kilkenny & Waterford train tour from Dublin. We had originally booked it for Tuesday, September 25, but plans changed and it was very easy to switch the booking to Thursday, Our guide was Paddy and he did a good job of keeping us organized and on time. The whole process went well even though we had to take a bus from Waterford to Limerick Junction because the train broke down. We were still back in Dublin as scheduled. The Waterford tour was particularly interesting. It is easy to realize why their crystal is so expensive when you see first hand the labor intensive, skilled craftsmanship that is involved. The Munster Pub for lunch was good and felt like a genuine Irish Pub.

Great tour and train to Waterford Crystal
Jul 2018 • Couples
We took the one day train tour from Dublin to Waterford Crystal and had so much fun. The tour guide David was a pleasure to talk to and had very good knowledge of everything on the tour.

The company guides were easy to find at the Heuston Train Station and made getting on the train a breeze. The station staff were very friendly and helpful. The train left at 07:25 and was clean and comfortable. Food and drinks are available at a reasonable price - nice to sip a coffee and enjoy the Irish countryside.

The train stops at Kilkenny and we had several hours to explore the city with our guide. His lunch choice (Munster Restaurant) was delicious.

The Waterford Crystal Factory was very interesting and enjoyable, and we purchased several lovely items in the store. We had them shipped back home, and they arrived safe and sound - worth paying the extra for shipping.

The train arrived back in Dublin at 20:00; a full day but very enjoyable. We would recommend this tour to anyone looking for an easy and fun day.

Waterford factory an interesting place to visit!
Jul 2018 • Couples
Paddy helped us have a great small group day riding the train to several stops in Kilkenny as well as Waterford. The pub we stopped at had a great cider as well as good Irish foods to choose from. The Waterford stop, especially the plant tour was fantastic to see the process from glass to crystal with specific patterns put into them. Both educational and fun, this is a nice trip to take. There are even discounts for you if you wish to bring or ship something special back from Waterford!

Paddy not only made sure the day fit with his guests needs, he went out of his way to put us on the correct walking track back to some good food at the end of the day. If you are in Dublin for a few days, this is a nice day trip to take to see more of Ireland.

Beautiful castle and Crystal in Viking country
Aug 2018
This trip from Dublin was very pleasant by train to Kilkenny where we walked through a section of town to a trolley for a tour of the city. This was a very quaint way to travel as was the town of Kilkenny with their colorful storefronts and beautiful flower displays. The trip includes time for a tour of Kilkenny Castle or shopping in the craft/artisan area near the Castle. Then came A brisk walk back to the train for a short ride over to Waterford where we had lunch followed by a short walking tour through part of the Viking area which included a church and some outdoor artwork. Our final stop was the Waterford Crystal factory where we observed master artisans in the various steps required to create the stunning Waterford Crystal pieces. Seeing how the Crystal is blown and then later cut was quite interesting. The tour ends in the showroom for some shopping, and shipping can be arranged right at the store for those lucky enough to acquire a piece. A quick trip back to the train station and our journey back to Dublin ends the day.
