Highly informative and entertaining walk and talk through Kirkwall.
Michael gave us a thorough and enthusiastic walk and talk through the history of Kirkwall. A highlight was the visit to Saint Magnus Cathedral. Michael was full of stories about the place and really brought it alive for us. I wondered how a walk-through this relatively small town could be made interesting over a four hour period but the time flew past, albeit with a brief stop in a cafe on the way. Thoroughly recommend it!

Would love to spend more time in the Orkneys
We only went to Kirkwall for one day and it was an interesting visit. Everything is in walking distance and the Bishop's and Earl's Palace were great to explore, while the medieval Cathedral was fabulous. Quite unexpected in a small place like Kirkwall. Shops were lovely and enjoyable to visit. I regretted not having the time to spend in the Orkneys and experience more of the culture.

          Wow!!! Beautiful Scenery
I booked this for our group of 15 while on a cruise. I worked with Pilar and he was very easy to work with and highly recommend this company. The tour guide Andy was AMAZING, the entire group loved listening to him on the history. He was informative and very fun. Do this tour and you will love it! There is a lot of climbing but it is worth it.

          Best Way to See Skye!
Brian Wells (BWS Taxi) was a great find. We are two women from the States and Ireland who needed an expert to give us a private tour to see the main sights of Skye. Our focus was photography. Brian was a master at finding the best vantage points—rain or shine. He was more than willing to stop to capture a moment or for impromptu shots. He shared many “off the basic tour” sights, including a one-hole golf course with a water hole over the edge of a loch located on a neighbor’s property. He was personable, amazing, humorous and shared many detailed stories about living on Skye. And most importantly, he put safety first when traversing the narrow roads. Thanks Brian—you truly made our trip memorable!

          Beautiful Orkney Islands
Orkney is a beautiful set of islands in Scotland. On our tour we were able to see some Neolithic sites dating back before Stonehenge. We were also able to walk in and around the sites and see the beautiful serene countryside. In addition, we went to an Italian chapel that was constructed by Italian prisoners of war during WWII. The tour was ended by a trip to a gin distillery in Kirkwall. This tour was a great way to see some of the beautiful things that the Orkney islands has to offer.

          Beautiful Orkney
If your time on Orkney is short, this has got to be the best way to see the sites. Our drive/guide was Leslie. He is one of those people who, when you first meet them, you feel like you have somehow known them for a long time. Professional, kind, and knowledgeable, he made provided us with a memorable day. Hailing from Kirkwall, though a world traveler himself, he possesses an intimate knowledge of the area. The sites that he will show just cannot be missed, and provide some of the most beautiful and striking scenery in Scotland. Though you see a lot, you never have the feeling of being hurried. This tour, and Leslie, make for a wonderful day that is well worth the money.

          Fantastic
Amanda uses wise and insightful knowledge to demonstrate the interesting culture and history of Shetland. Apart from the plenty of archaeology, local lore and legends told, she also told a lot of stories of her travelling all over the world. Although the weather was stormy and snowy all day, her SUV was steadily and smoothly driven on the road all along. A number of great viewpoints along the coast were visited, and we were on time for a quick lunch at one of the café loved by the locals. Great experience for the one-day visit!

          Brilliant
Marlene’s minibus provided extremely reliable hop-on-and-off among the famous historical sites. She is very knowledgeable too - giving me useful insights by presenting the rich history, epic and local folklores of Orkney vividly accompanying both maps and pictures. Thoroughly enjoyed it, would recommend!

          Very good
Hotel opposite to the main ferry terminal so always something to watch from the window. Room on large side and very comfortable. Bathroom has bath, very important to my hubby. Food very good. Kitchen willing to accommodate food preferences and allergy needs. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel short walk from town centre

          Perfect
Marelene was awesome. She met us immediately and was well prepared, including a rag to wipe down the windows in the van that was getting a bit steamy due to the rain our tour started in. She got us to the Standing Stones and Ring of Brodgar before the tour busses so we got them to ourselves for a few minutes before the crowds waded in! It was a lovely touch that she seems to know everyone in the area, giving us the 'in' to stop in a driveway and see an amazing view, to feed some furry pigs, and see Shetland ponies. She discussed lunch options early on and made reservations for us, including the special meal requirements in our group. She had tickets in hand for places and maps for us to look at, and took into consideration personal interests of the group in terms of prioritizing places- although I feel like we got to see everything of interest! We appreciated her wealth of knowledge, clarity of communication for drop offs and regathering. Super easy to feel we were in good hands with a local guide who enjoys her job. I have no doubt we made an excellent decision booking with her, rather than trying to scrabble together multiple overpriced bus excursions through the cruise line. Thank you Marelene!
