Highlights
    What to Expect
The walks normally take 3 1/2 hours (half-day) or seven hours (full-day) but can be modified to suit your requirements as can the route and itinerary.

Visitors will be shown the delights of Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile, the 'old town' and the 'new town', together with a delightful commentary from Stuart or Richard on the celebrated characters that hail from the city and the history, the culture and the architectural splendour of the city.

Your guides will discuss people like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (the creator of Sherlock Holmes), Deacon Brodie (the original 'Jekyll and Hyde'), JK Rowling (the creator of Harry Potter) and Sir Walter Scott (the great historical romance author).

In addition, they speak with authority on the intellectual giants associated with Edinburgh and the Enlightenment such as the philosopher David Hume, and the founder of modern economics, Adam Smith.

Places, 'closes' and buildings associated with these individuals can be visited.

Also, most of the major historical sites of interest will be covered and you will visit the beautiful St Giles Cathedral.

On the full-day tour there will be time to see the Queen's official Scottish residence, Holyrood Palace, and to see the Scottish Parliament building at Holyrood. There will also be time to see more attractions in the New Town (don't be fooled by the name, construction of the 'new town' started in the 1700's!).

The tour can be paused any time you wish for e.g. for refreshments at any of the delightful pubs and eating establishments on the route.

There will be plenty of excitement and fun and lots of opportunities to take some memorable photographs of the best-known landmarks of Scotland's glorious and ancient capital city!

We shared a half day tour with Stuart Usher that was one of our most memorable experiences of our 25 day UK trip. My husband had injured his leg just a couple of days prior to our Edinburgh arrival, so Stuart met us at our hotel to make it easier for us. Then, taking into

Dear VicPolly Many thanks for your top-notch Review of your Tour with me. Despite my taking Tours on a daily basis I still always really enjoy telling my Clients about the many interesting and great men of the city in centuries past. Men like David Hume, Adam Smith, James Boswell and many, many others who really were the ones who made Edinburgh so famous. The Clients also love to hear about these great beings. Unfortunately King George the Fourth appears to have had a somewhat restricted mindset and made little contribution for the advancement and well being of human beings. His constant pursuit of the ladies are amusing to look back on. He certainly would not fit in too well in this modern world we now live in! I hope your husband's leg is fully recovered by now and that you all enjoyed the rest of your time in Edinbugh and the UK Best wishes and we hope to see you again someday.. Stuart U.

My wife and I had the pleasure of having our tour of Edinburgh given to us by Stuart Usher. If you’re not familiar with the city of Edinburgh, it’s very hilly and a lot of stairs or uphill walking. We were first concerned that Mr Usher wouldn’t be able to manage the terrain to

Dear Wes Thank you very much for your very complimentary Review. It is much appreciated. Fortunately I can still walk great distances with no trouble at all. The same goes for Edinburgh's multitude of steps and stairs! I was delighted to take you on Tour and that I was able to answer all your questions. Our Policy has always been to encourage our Clients to ask questions, ask questions, the more the merrier! You must visit us again some day. Best wishes Stuart U

We did a 3.5-hour walking tour with Richard Usher on Aug 1st. He was truly fantastic, remembering all of our names, and presented a fact-filled, historical and fun tour of Edinburgh that we really enjoyed. There were about 9 in our group, including a couple from North Carolina

Dear Gerl Many thanks for your lovely Review, very much appreciated. I am so happy that you so enjoyed your Tour of our fair city with Richard. Old Clients of ours quite often return for another Tour with us, as you noted with the other couple from North Carolina. We take this as a great compliment, not to mention the great pleasure of meeting them again. Maybe we will meet you again as well. We very much hope so. Best wishes Stuart U.
