Full-Day Trip to Loch Ness and the Scottish Highlands
Unless you rent a car for the day, getting to Loch Ness from Edinburgh is an arduous task. Escape the city, and travel to the Scottish Highlands with ease on this day trip, ideal for travelers with limited time. Avoid the hassle of navigating rural Scotland’s winding roads, and save your energy for the unspoiled scenery of Great Glen, Rannoch Moor, and Loch Ness. Plus you can also upgrade to include a cruise on Loch Ness.
What to Expect

Climb aboard a climate-controlled coach in central Edinburgh and begin your journey to the Scottish Highlands. Your guide provides a historical overview of the region as you pass Stirling Castle and Rannoch Moor. Stop at Glen Coe, the site of a legendary 17th-century massacre.

On arrival in Fort Augustus, located on the banks of Loch Ness, enjoy free time relaxing and indulging in a provided picnic lunch. Opt for a cruise on Loch Ness (own expense) for a panoramic view of the area.

On the return drive back to Edinburgh, pass Loch Laggan, the Pass of Drumochter, and Forth Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This tour concludes at your original departure point in central Edinburgh.

Spectacular day trip!

Not going to lie, this is a LONG day. Starting at about 7:45am when you catch the bus on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, and ending about about 7:45-8pm when you return. In fact, my husband and I almost decided not to do this the...More

Great scenery, too much driving

We enjoyed the scenery of Glencoe and learning about Loch Ness and the monster, however our day was double jinxed. One family failed to return to the bus until we sent out a search party and they showed up 45 minutes late for our scheduled...More

Easier than renting a car

We considered renting a car to tour the Highlands, but decided a tour would be easier and cheaper. As with any bus tour, this trip was a little short on time to wander and explorer. However, our driver/guide, Joe, did a wonderful job of giving...More

Gorgeous Scenery

My parents and I went on this tour to the Highlands because we were pressed for time. The Highlands are a long way out from Edinburgh, so understandably most of our time was spent going to and from Loch Ness, rather than out exploring nature....More

I wouldn't advise it with a 2 year old whether you're allowed to or not. It's a VERY long day with an early start and a late finish and an awful lot of time is spent sat on the coach. Not ideal for a 2 year old at all.
