- 1With welcome drink in hand (double G&T), during this walking tour of the distillery you will learn all about Aberdeen's rich distilling heritage, how City of Aberdeen Distillery was established and uncover interesting facts about botanicals. The Head Distiller will guide you around the restricted areas of the distillery and talk about how Aberdeen Gin is made. This also includes a Q&A session. Enjoy samples of both London Dry and Fruit Gins from the range of small batch Scottish Gins - served directly from French glass demi-johns. There is also an opportunity to browse the distillery shop - if you've liked the gins you've sampled, why not treat yourself to a bottle of Aberdeen Gin from the range or even take home a 5-miniature tasting box. As the tour concludes, attendees are encouraged to explore the “botanical garden”.
About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- caitlinhV6182UF0 contributionsNot only for gin loversWe did a tasting with Dan and he was so fun and engaging. He was very knowledgeable, not only about gin but Aberdeen and its history too. He catered to both our tastes (one a gin lover and one a newbie). He was so passionate and it was infectious. Was a lovely experience and would definitely recommend to both gin lovers and those who are just curious.Written 8 September 2024
- Peter W0 contributionsA superb visit and MasterclassWe did the City of Aberdeen Distillery gin tasting experience last Thursday. It was a 4pm — 6pm session which was perfect. Two and a bit fascinating and wonderful hours thanks to the expertise of Dan and Allan. Totally opened my mind to what goes into creating a great gin. We were two amongst 16 from around the world enjoying this superb experience. Obviously it helps a lot if you like gin and little point if you are tee total. Starts and finishes with a large g&t with lots of small tasting samples you prepare individually. I want to try the gin school next. 😊👍Written 2 July 2024
- meggiel20240 contributionsThis class is amazing! You should attend!!I can’t even tell you how amazing this class is! Even if you don’t like gin, this class is still amazing. It teaches you the deconstructed basics of gin and gives you some unique tastings. The staff (Don and Allen) are super knowledgeable and fun. 5+++ stars!!Written 27 June 2024
- Kokopetiyotl0 contributionsYou need to attend this Gin SchoolA fabulous way to spend an afternoon (or a morning if you are a morning person) in Aberdeen. This Gin masterclass was a birthday treat and one of the best I have ever received. I did not exactly know what to expect so I would not want to spoil it for someone else, but let’s say that if you are a gin lover this is definitely for you. Don & Alan, the founders of Aberdeen city Gin distillery have for sure polished their masterclass: there is no rest for one’s curiosity and enthusiasm. While you will learn about spirits, gin, the distilleries in Aberdeen and the shire, visit the facility, get a glimpse of the process and have very generous tastes of the house production (on that note you should walk to the Distillery or take a bus or a cab!) , you understand you are going to professionally make your own gin! and this is a huge responsibility! All those spices, flowers, herbs... It is a very good thing that Alan & Don guide you through your choices to help materialise one of your dreams in a bottle you will bring home, named, professionally labelled and sealed. The temptation is too big to put too much! Then, once home, starts another one which is : wait for the aromas to settle and apparently it takes 3 months!Written 13 December 2023
- Martin G0 contributionsAn excellent gin experyAbsolutely brilliant. Alan and Dan are excellent hosts, very knowledgeable, very professional, and very slick. A fantastic experience. Highly recommended.Written 4 December 2023
- mnatale17010 contributionsGin ExperienceWe had an amazing time. We learned a great deal about gin from Allan and Don, and we even got to make our own gin from scratch with assistance from Allan and Don. They had over 100 botanicals from which to choose and the owners assisted with how flavors might mix. A great way to spend the day.Written 23 September 2023
- Ksilverstar250 contributionsSuch a fun afternoon!Hands Down my husband and I had the best time. First of all the gin they make is amazing. I didn't know much about gin but I came out of the experience feeling like I know quite a bit! With the owners guidance they helped us make our own gin and it turned out awesome! Such a fun and unique experience by far the best thing we did in Aberdeen!Written 18 August 2023
- TorphinsTim0 contributionsFun and informative afternoonAlan & Dan we’re great hosts, very knowledgeable and helpful. We did the gin school experience with lots of tastings and then made our own custom gin to take away.Written 23 July 2023
- Paradise6460660 contributionsGinning is winningHad the best experience here , my partner got this as a gift for his birthday and I got to tag along, Alan and Dan were great , very informative , lots of samples , would totally recommendWritten 22 July 2023
- F4714MKgracep0 contributionsGin tourGreat knowledgeable and friendly host. Learn a lot about Gin and sampled a few different flavours. Didn’t know what to expect and was pleasantly surprizedWritten 17 June 2023
- rosemaryf9580 contributionsGin ExperienceThe Gin School Experience from start to finish was more than expected. Firstly Dan and Alan greeted everyone as they came in. Dan made everyone a lovely gin and remembered I preferred lemonade to tonic when I visited earlier in May for the gin tasting. Alan then began his history lesson. It was so informative about how their venture started, Aberdeen distilleries from the past and much much more. The actual experience of making your own gin was so good from the start to the finishing product. If you stay in the city or shire or are a visitor to Aberdeen I would recommend the gin experience!Written 15 June 2023
- JPR_543210 contributionsExcellent! Surpassed Expectations!!We weren’t sure what to expect. The gin school and commercial distillery is housed in an old railway arch which has been stunningly converted while retaining original features. Upon arrival, we had a very warm welcome with a lovely gin while we waited for class participants to assemble. This was followed by a highly informative talk about the long history of distilling, the origins of gin and distilleries which used to be in Aberdeen. We then moved to the rear of the buildings where commercial distillation takes place to learn about the process. This was all really interesting and entertaining. Then to the fun part - making your own gin! With a choice of well over 100 botanicals, we each selected what we liked with expert guidance from Dan and Alan. While our stills worked their magic we were treated to more gin tastings before cutting the distillation and bottling our own 70cl bottle of gin. I highly recommend this as a couples, friends or even business team building event. Best fun in Aberdeen. Well done & thanks for s fabulous afternoon! Jon & SueWritten 11 March 2023
- vickyblack10 contributionsAmazing time at the distillery.Amazing experience. Loved the class. Dan and Allan were so friendly and welcoming. They also extended the time on my voucher as I was unable to attend before the time ran out. Cannot thank them enough. Definitely worth a visit. Would buy this experience for someone as a gift. And the gin is spectacular.Written 12 February 2023

I had no idea I loved gin so much! The flavours Allan and Dan create are just something truly special. It is also so kind and cool of them to tell you gin recipes and even sell starter kits for home blending! The only regret I have is not being able to book a "school " package for me and my friend, who visited Aberdeen (we attended a tasting session, which was great but a bit short experience by itself). Well - something that we definitely will do on next occasion. The botanicals selection that guys have there is incredible and I can't wait to distill my own gin in Allan&Dan' school. Guys are truly knowledgeable, passionate and excited experts and they are doing fantastic job with their little distillery!

Received this voucher as a birthday present and it turned out to be one of the best. From the time we arrived the whole experience was well structured and enjoyable. Generous quantities of gin starting with a double and that was before 11 o'clock. Vast selection of gins and the other tours provide different experiences. Sensible to take a taxi or public transport although the latter is not easy getting to the venue

Visited the distillery yesterday. We had a great time. Both Alan and Dan were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their gin and local history. I was driving so I got a lemonade but was given a miniature in stead of the welcoming drink.
The selection of gins was great and we were told how they make it.
Thanks Alan and Dan for a great time

Had a good time at the distillery. Interesting hearing the history of Aberdeens past distilleries and finding out that this is Aberdeens newest and currently only distillery. It was also good getting to taste the gins. Next time we come to Aberdeen we will book the gin school as it sounds like a great day.
