What to expect
  • Meet your guide near the British Museum, and be introduced to the small group of no more than eight participants in total. This stunning museum showcases a vast collection of art and artifacts from around the world that span 6,000 years of human history, from Samurai armor to Assyrian lion hunting reliefs dating from the 7th century BC. Roam through the rooms with your guide, and view a carefully chosen selection of treasures, such as the Mummy of Katebet, the Lewis Chessmen, and the world-famous Rosetta Stone; a 2nd-century BC stone inscribed with priestly Egyptian texts. Your guide provides in-depth but enjoyable insights into the pieces, putting them into context to deepen your understanding of human achievement through history. Following your tour, leave the museum and after a break for lunch (own expense), reconvene with your guide for your visit to the National Gallery. Hear a brief introduction to the National Gallery, and the artworks it houses. This famous art museum is home to over 2,300 paintings from all genres of European art from the 13th to the 19th centuries, including works by Leonardo da Vinci, Boticelli, and Monet. Head inside and take an informative tour, with your guide showing you the highlights of the collection. See works masters such as Rembrandt, Vermeer, and Seurat, and learn fascinating background about the artists, their subjects and techniques. Masterpieces slated for you to see include 'The Arnolfini Portrait,' a depiction of a Bruges’ merchant and his wife by Jan van Eyck painted in 1434, and Van Gogh’s 'Sunflowers,' one of four paintings of the flowers by the Dutch artist in 1888. After your tour, say goodbye to your guide, bringing your experience to an end.

Semi Private tour of British Museum & National Gallery
Mar 2020
The enthusiasm and knowledge that Stephanie has of these two museums was incredible! Not only did she have a wealth of knowledge, but she made everything we saw interesting and exciting. I ended up with a private tour of the National Gallery. What a way to see these magnificent museums. You see the top pieces, learn facts and miss those items your not interested in viewing. This is the only way to see these museums. Definitely using Get Your Guide and Babylon Tours again.

Fantastic tour with Becky
Nov 2019
Becky was incredibly knowledgeable and personable. We thoroughly enjoyed our British Museum tour with her and while we signed up for a semi private tour, we were the only ones that day so we had a private tour.

Semi private tour of British Museum and National Gallery
Oct 2019
Our tour guide for the day was Kathy Harrison. Kathy is a graduate student studying to be a museum curator and more. She was incredibly knowledgeable and a lovely person besides. My husband and I learned so much and thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with Kathy at the British Museaum and at the National Gallery.

Semi private British Museum Tour
Nov 2019 • Couples
Our guide had a deep and wide understanding of the museum’s history and artifacts showing us things we would have never seen or understood on our own. She developed a thread of history that took us through the exhibits and made for a fantastic tour. Highly recommended. Well done Becky!

Amazing!
Oct 2019
Our guide did a great job. Made it fun. Becky was a treat. She took us to all the best of that museum. She was able to show us all that we wanted to see. We heard her heart when she shared her love for the museum and an exhibit that had an old friend, his name was Ginger. Thanks again Becky for your great service. A private tour with her was well worth every penny!

Wonderful time with an excellent knowledgable guide
Oct 2019
It was the first visit to both British Museum and the National Gallery, and we would be so lost without our excellent guide, Jake. I would strongly recommend to take this tour if you haven't been to the museum before. The collections are immense, especially the British Museum's, and you can easily get lost and waste a lot of time just navigating through the halls on your own. It is also incredibly useful to learn the backstory of the objects and art pieces, and Jake had a story for us, for all of the important pieces we had seen.

Excellent guide and a well organized tour
Oct 2019
We took the tour with Danielle during the first week of October. The excursion was well organized with Babylon sending reminders, meeting point details, the guide's phone number well in advance. Our guide arrived a few minutes early and was ready to go. While the British Museum and the National Gallery combo tour is fairly extensive, Danielle did a great job of choosing focal points, corralled our group to the most advantageous viewing locations and shared key facts in an highly engaging manner. All in all it was a highly informative experience and I'd unequivocally recommend to anyone interested in a comprehensive and well-paced overview of the two museums.
