Overview
Get an insider’s take on Old Montreal during this guided walking tour, which lets you leave the navigating to someone else. Choose a shorter walk of either the east or west sides, or a longer walk that covers both. Through your guide’s commentary, come to understand the history, culture, and architecture of the city. Highlights include the Notre-Dame Basilica (admission ticket included), Champ de Mars, City Hall, Bonsecours Market, and Place Jacques-Cartier.
What to Expect
When booking, choose between the east-side (mid-morning departure) or west-side (early afternoon departure) tour. Alternatively, you can book both, which gives you a break for an independent lunch. Meet at the Notre-Dame Basilica, where your guide will give you an orientation before you enter the basilica itself (admission ticket included). Learn about Quebec’s rich religious heritage, and admire the building’s impressive stained-glass windows.

From there, set out on foot through the streets of Old Montreal, leaving navigation to your guide. Listen to commentary on the city’s history, architecture, art, and culture as you visit highlights such as Sulpician Seminary, the Champ de Mars, City Hall, St.-Jacques Street, Place Jacques-Cartier, and  Place Royale.

End up at the domed public market, Bonsecours Market, which is more than 100 years old. From there, you can explore further on your own with your guide’s suggestions.

Enjoyable, informative, and engaging

This was a great tour, led by Lesley. I found myself engaged by aspects that are not in my wheelhouse. For my husband, a history buff Lesley provided scintillating historical details. I was appreciative of the art and architecture Lesley included; there was something for...More

Guidatour Highly Recommend!

Guidatour offers a ninety minute walking tour -- we had Christian and her was GREAT! The Notre Dame Basilica was gorgeous and the walk through old town was easy and the guide did not hurry everyone along and that was appreciated.

Yes, You can go to Notre Dame Basilica and right outside there is a tour company desk. If there is space, you can sign on.
