Tulum, Coba Maya Village
Tulum is an ancient port city spectacularly perched on a walled, seaside cliff, and Coba contains the ruins of one of Mesoamerica’s most populous cities. During this innovative and culturally rich combo tour, you’ll discover the legacies of Mexico’s indigenous Mayan civilization with stops at both archaeological sites, topped off by a visit to the Maya village of Esmerelda for a refreshing cenote swim and authentic local meal.
What to Expect

The advanced civilizations of one of Mexico’s greatest indigenous groups, the Mayans, may have vanished centuries ago, but their legacies are still long-lasting. During this intimate and innovative combo tour, you’ll discover the ancient traditions and lifestyles that have been kept alive, and are now flourishing in modern-day Mexico.

Most tours focus on either Tulum or Coba, but you’ll visit both legendary archaeological sites during a single day. Enjoy ample free time to wander the impressive ruins at your own pace, with the option to climb the tallest pyramid in the Yucatan Peninsula. You guide will be on-hand to explain the culture and history of the Maya, famous for their complex astronomy and intricate, stepped temples.

After touring the vestiges of Mexico’s lost civilizations, you’ll also have time to frolic along one of the country’s most spectacular white-sand beaches. From there, you’ll head to the village of Esmerelda to learn how indigenous traditions have lived on in the agricultural community. Take a dip in a sacred cenote and indulge in a savory Maya meal, including hand-made corn tortillas, before being comfortably dropped back to your hotel.
