    Monkey tour
Went there instead of the elephant sanctuary after reading such terrible reviews on it. The monkey sanctuary was a pleasant surprise. Very good guide and informative. Loads of different monkeys to see up close. Small group in the tour.

Amazing experience. But be prepped for mosquitos. Worth the price.
We had a fantastic time, guided by the exceptional Enrique, who was very well informed and interested. There are loads of monkeys all over the place, amazing to be so close. I loved the gibbons best of all. NB. Wear long pants and socks, the warnings by others on trip advisor about mosquitos are to be heeded. They are merciless. If you are prepared, with appropriate clothing and mosquito repellant, it will be a fantastic experience.

Monkeyland, definitely one for the sightseeing list!
Monkeyland is definitely one for the list as a must see! There are monkeys from all over the world that are being kept as they cannot go back into the wild. These monkeys come from all walks of life including zoos as well as being kept as pets. Monkeyland has become their safe space and you get to learn so much about each species. The guided tour was great fun! Do lather yourself in the mosquito repellent they provide as the mosquitos are relentless especially during summer.

Disappointing on a rainy day. Don’t do it when it is raining.
Very disappointing. It was a very rainy morning. We saw very few monkeys/apes and probably only about 5 different kinds. The guide mentioned that this was because of the bad weather. Our tour ended after appr. 35 minutes (instead of being between 45 and 60 minutes) We started the tour from 10 am too late and already finished at 10.44 h. They should mention the influence of the weather or give a discount on the ticket because there is almost nothing to see.

    Lovely place to see monkeys
Would highly recommend for a visit. Monkeys look very happy in a large forest area. Very knowledgable guide. Good value for money.

    Poor expercience
Not a good experience at all. My (expensive) prescription glasses were taken from my face by a vervet within 5mins of starting the tour. Yes, we were warned before starting that the monkeys do snatch stuff. But thought it one would see them come and then have an opportunity to hide your items. Going without my glasses caused major issues for me the remainder of the holiday. Perhaps Monkeyland must make the warnings more explicit and issue straps for glasses? We were also bitten severely by mosquitoes. We will not ever return again.

    Brilliant
What a great place to visit. Your entrance fee of GBP£16 provides a guided 1 hour tour of the sanctuary where loads of monkeys have free reign. You walk through the forest feet away from monkeys on the footpath and in the trees. Gibbons, Howlers and plenty of Lemurs to take pictures of. Great place for kids to learn about wildlife in a "real" world environment.

    Fascinating place
Monkey land is a fascinating place to visit. It is a free roaming primate sanctuary. We had a private tour and it was wonderful to see them roam around on the ground and be on the trees. We saw many primates of various species. The birds of Eden is next door - also worth a visit.

    Visit with the monkeys
Enjoyed this tour and seeing the animals up close. They appear to be committed to improving the lives of the animals and not exploiting them. Loved the lemurs. Guide was very knowledgeable and willing to answer questions

very fun and not to be missed!
This was fun – just make sure there’s no monkey in the tree above you! 😊 The guide was so friendly and knowledgeable. It was very low-key – just walking around with the monkeys and lemurs running here and there. Would be really fun with kids.

A good way to spend a few hours but not a "must see"
Went here as it wasn't great weather and it was near our lodge. Staff were generally friendly and knowledgeable, our guide made the trip interesting. Not a great variety of monkeys but that's probably because they restrict the species to Southern Africa. Worth a visit if you've not got spare time

A highly recommend place to visit
This is a great place to visit where the tours are guided. Much useful information is learned from the expert guide, and there are many species of monkeys/apes to be easily seen in a natural environment. We bought a combined Bird/monkey ticket, which proved very worthwhile.

    Fabulous, highly recommend!
The visit to monkey land is with a tour guide only, which is great because they can tell you all about the monkeys, help you to spot them all and make sure visitors behave themselves - you cannot touch or feed the monkeys. We loved the philosophy of the place and found the experience to be very considerate of the monkeys but yet a close up experience of them. We learned a lot and we would definitely do it again. We all loved every minute of ot. Our guide was great. Our family highly rated this experience. We also visited bird land next door and enjoyed that too. Highly recommend.

    A good filler activity
This is not something that you have to do, but if you are in plattenberg bay and have time to spare, this is something that can be done. We had enjoyed it as it was quite nice to see all the monkey species and a good walk in the sanctuary. Our guide, Ralph actually made it a lot better.

This is a great place to visit if you have two or three hours to spare, although you could go through in a short period of time. There are some amazing birds which are all easily visible and an incredible variety with some of the most beautiful colours imaginable. The environment is extremely natural, and although it is a very, very large enclosure – there is no sense that it is artificial or contrived. All birds have been rescued and the ethos has to be commended. A very well worthwhile excursion.

The forest is absolutely beautiful and so are the birds. You need to walk slowly and take your time look everywhere because some birds hide. There are birds that come right up to you and sing and make noises.

Beautifully presented and beautiful bird viewing however reception advises that there are no guided tours. You have to buy a book guide and search for each bird that you see. No information boards and no guides explaining anything at any point. Very disappointing for the price paid. Lots of staff not giving info unless asked for assistance

Visited here with the Mrs’ and was pleasantly surprised as I wasn’t a fan of Monkeyland next door.
Saw some really interesting birds and managed a few decent photos.
Highlight was right up the top seeing the flamingos being fed, lowlight was having some kind of duck peck at my feet and undo my shoelaces.
All in all, 8 on 10 👍🏻

We really enjoyed the sanctuary. We wandered through at our leisure and had many pleasant viewings of birds. The one bird we did not expect to see and which we see too many of at home was a small flock of Canad Geese. I did a double take on that one. There were no guides, but then I generally find them uninformative unless they are specialists in their area. We did just fine with our guide book and had fun working through it.
