This is NO sanctuary at all!! Very very disturbing - poor white tiger seems out of his head - walking up and down - 3meters at a time. Saw a review from a previous visitor (1 year ago) the tiger have been doing the same thing... please please dont support this. This is nothing but a small zoo - its heart breaking that places like these still exists! Animal cruelty

Dear Heidi, Thank you for your review we also saw the one you tried to leave on Facebook in a Tourism Group where the group informed you that you had miss information. The tiger in question has an eye problem and loosing his sight and not that young anymore. He is aware of people and he has excellent hearing, so because he can still recognize people he will often do this when there are visitors. It is his way of acknowledging that he knows what is going on and he knows his area/surroundings. Animal welfare organizations as well as the State Vet does inspections at our sanctuaries unannounced and often and to date we have not received any negative feedback from them. You are welcome to verify our standing with them. We are proud supporters of the HANDS OFF OUR WILDLIFE initiative. Regards Vijver Jonck Social Media Manager

LOCKDOWN GOOD TIME TO WATCH PICS OF PREVIOUS VISITS
May 2019
Being under Lockdown is a good time to look at collection of pictures and travel from your Laptop.
I visited Jukani for the second time in 2019. I planned to go on the late afternoon tour to co-incide with feeding time.
As we were there well before feeding the very knowledable guide took us through the Park. My favourite is the white Tiger, you will see from my pics (previous) that she is a real beauty.
We saw Hyenas right up close. The Guide made sure that we saw the Caracals, although they were well camouflaged. We saw how much Tigers enjoy water.
All the animals look so good. The Jaguar, Cheetahs, the Badger, the Lions and the Tigers.
When feeding time started I was entralled with the Tiger. It growled at me and I took lots of pics and videos. However when I down loaded my pics, the videos would not because my camera had jammed.
When I looked at those Tiger teeth, I knew I will have to go back, so much so that I instantly whatsapped a friend to inform her that should she want to go next year February or March, she should stay in touch.

We weren't sure but was well worth the visit!
Jan 2020
We turned up to fill a time gap. We were told that the guided tour would be 1hr 20 but turned into almost two hours of fascinating tour. Our guide was wonderful and talked of the history of all the animals and why they were there. There was no skirting over the fact that their animals are in captivity and each have a story as to why they were there.

The animals appear to have plenty of space and not at all like a zoo. Some animals we didn't see because they weren't near the fence of were hiding somewhere in their enclosure.

We were so pleased that we did 'pop in' and would recommend a visit.

Elvis, the tour guide, had real talent.
Jan 2020
To be fair Elvis had a lot going for him. A small, attentive group interested in wildlife. Cool but dry weather conditions which meant all the animals, except for the honey badger, were proudly out on display. However really felt Elvis’s passion for and knowledge about the animals really enhanced the tour. Final word of thanks for the Sanctuary itself. The animals looked content in their environment with plenty of space to roam.

Up close with the big cats
Jan 2020
Fantastic tour guide. When pressed on the Jaguar - Puma issue he acquitted himself quite well indeed. Comments after the tour from my group of 9 was very positive about your caring for the cats and about the knowledge imparted by our guide. Well done.A recommendation to other tourist - visit here early morning or late afternoon. Middle of the day has the animals hiding in the shade and you miss out on seeing a few of those.
