Off the Cruise Ship for 4 days to visit Lesotho
First of all Emile amended this 3 day tour for us to pick us up in Durban at the cruise port and return us to the Durban airport on the 4th day to make our flight. It was an awesome experience and our driver Peter was excellent. We toured most of the country and had many different experiences that were wonderful. All the locations that we visited were very unique and educational as well. All accommodations arranged throughout the tour were excellent. On our final day which was mainly driving back to Durban, Emile had arranged a luncheon for us at a Private Game park. What a surprise. Emile went out of his way to make sure we had this tour and made sure that it would surpass our expectations and it did. I would recommend this company to anyone travelling in this area, their service is above and beyond what your would expect.

Unforgettable day at Sanipass and Lesotho!
We were exploring the Sanipass and Lesotho with our guide Sandile. We had an excellent time with him and another couple. He told a lot about nature, fauna and culture and was also interested in our culture in Europe. We had a beautiful weather to see magnificent views. Sandile was an experienced driver. We loved to do this tour with Roof af Africa!

        Sani Pass Day Trip
Wonderfull day trip up the Sani Pass and into Lesotho. Tsebo is a very professional, informative guide and has a lovely sense of humor. He also shares extensive knowledge of the area and its people, fauna and flora. Very interesting. We had perfect weather and he let us explore and enjoy ourselves as a family. Very safe and comfortable vehicle. Would recommend this tour for young and old.

Excellent overnight Sani Pass tour from Durban
The Sani pass overnight tour was excellent, incredible scenery and really enhanced by our guide & driver Tsebo who knew all of the wildlife and seemingly most of the people! I’d definitely recommend doing the overnight rather than 1-day trip, there’s a lot of driving and we were able to take things at a good pace, stay over in a lovely guesthouse in Mohotlong and ride horses over the mountains for several hours to see some beautiful and remote villages plus stop for lunch for some excellent local food. We took the tour from Durban which included a transfer to Underberg with a friendly and knowledgable driver.

        Lesotho with Mondli
I would like to praise the guide Mondli for making us a fun, educational, and interesting trip. From the first moment we felt confident in his driving, we discovered his great knowledge in every field, the history of Lesotho, the approach to the locals, and especially in the field of bird watching which suited my husband's hobby - photographing birds. Mondli responded to our requests and supported us during the difficult times we went through following of the events in Israel. I would like to thank Mondli from the bottom of my heart and hope that there will be more people/guides like him.

        Met our expectations
My husband and I hired Roof of Africa to pick us up early on a Wednesday morning at the airport in Maseru and show us some highlights of Lesotho for the next two days, overnighting at Semonkong and then dropping us off at Pietermaritzburg in South Africa. Everything about the operation was professional. Sandile was at the arrivals area, waiting for us to emerge, and he proved to be a competent and responsible driver. We appreciated the many insights he shared with us. The one disappointment was that we did not travel down the Sani Pass, as I had thought we would do. I’m not sure what caused my misunderstanding about the route, although I now know that basically there are no roads connecting Semonkong with the Pass. Anyone planning to do a similar itinerary should understand that it takes three days (not two) to get from Maseru to Underberg (or Durban or whatever) via the famous pass. Other than that, we were happy with every other aspect of the trip and would recommend Roof of Africa without reservation.

        Awesome tour!
Our very nice guide could tell us a lot about the nature and the culture of both South Africa and Lesotho. During the tour he always made an effort to explain and show us the animals and nature of the sani pass. He payed a lot of attention to our personal interests and adapted the tour accordingly. We arrived in Lesotho smoothly due to his safe driving and preparations for the border control. In Lesotho we visited the highest pub in Africa and a village, where we learned a lot about their culture and enjoyed the great view of the Drakensberg. Our guide was also very flexible with our dietary requirements and prepared a delicious vegetarian lunch for us.

        Absolutely AMAZING!💜
It's a lifetime experience! Me and my husband had such a great time with Roof Of Africa :) All their staff is super kind and helpful and our guide, Mondli, is absolutely amazing. Well organized, exciting, and perfect for nature lovers. We loved everything about this tour; birdwatching (our best birding tour in Africa!), horse riding, cultural villages... We can't wait to meet our Roof Of Africa friends again 💜Thank you so much guys!

Lesotho Overnight Tour - Great Views and Activities, Incredible Guide!
My partner and I greatly enjoyed our overnight tour in Lesotho this month, leaving from Durban and staying in Mokhotlong! We particularly loved the Sani Pass, our time horseback riding, and just the spectacular scenery at every turn. The absolute highlight of this tour though was our guide, Peter. He was so knowledgeable, and happy to answer our many questions! Having him guide us through Lesotho for a couple of days made this tour worth it. Make sure to get a pint at the highest altitude pub in all of Africa, at the top of Sani Pass! This was one of our favourites!

        Beautiful Land, Beautiful People.
Beautiful land; beautiful people. Husband arranged the Tour which started on time as Mondli picked us up from our accomodation, at the furthest, most remote address in Underberg. Warmed to Mondli straight away and this continued as the day progressed. Knowledge of the area, of driving the pass, settling us into each part of this adventure -.wonderful. We stopped to enjoy the views and learned a lot about this land. Passport control was dealt with efficiently and we journeyed to the Highest Pub in Africa. Good toilets/facilities and the aroma of pizza welcomed us. The journey on into Lesotho included visits to two villages In the first, we had songs and dancing and got to know the residents. In the second, John sampled the locally brewed beer. We had a nice picnic lunch, cold drinks and a second cup of coffee. We dropped into the pub again, this time for drinks. Mondli was a wonderful guide. He helped us out as we had lost our travel adaptor, and kindly stopped on the way back so we could buy essentials- everything needed for a braii. He was a brilliant representative for his community and an incredibly nice and intelligent person. John enjoyed their conversation. I would recommend this trip to anyone and would do it again anytime.

Amazing Trip up the Sani Pass that I won’t forget.
What an amazing experience. Being a solo traveler they worked with me to get me connected up with another party who graciously allowed me to join. The views were amazing and it was such a wonderful experience to visit the pub, see a village, exploring the town of Mokhotlong and just the amazing people. Our guide Peter was top notch. The staff was amazing and even had a spot for my hire car and it was safe and secure. I plan to book again for the longer tour.

THE best Sani Pass experience with Roof of Africa Tours
Emile and his team are organised, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. If you are in the area - Sani Pass with Roof of Africa Tours is an experience you wouldn't want to miss with its variety of wildlife, interesting landscapes, breathtaking views & exciting climb up the switchbacks! Emile made it extra special with bird spotting, historical facts and background that made it such an enriching experience, plus a tea & snack stop - a very relaxed but professional approach. And wow so exhilarating doing the climb in his comfy vehicle - we felt very safe! We would recommend this tour to anyone who has a spirit of adventure :-)

This was an amazingly beautiful experience and we would highly recommend it to anyone. Peter, our driver and guide, was exceptionally knowledgeable, professional, helpful and flexible. He was also an outstanding driver. Emile helped us with the booking and he was very responsive and helpful with understanding the border crossing details both in and out of Lesotho.

What an experience! Our family had such a special time. The weather was misty and rainy and made for beautiful scenery and nostalgic imagery. Our guide for the Sani Pass tour Emile was so knowledgeable about the history of the land, people and wildlife it helped make a very special memory for us all.

We really lucked out on this trip for two reasons. First of all the weather - we saw a few fluffy clouds on the way up but that was it! When we got to the top it was wall to wall sunshine! Secondly - our choice of tour operator. Roof of Africa tours were excellent throughout. Our driver was Emille who was very safe and very knowledgable, we were entertained and educated. We weren't expecting to be visiting a Lesotho village at the top but that is what happened - dressing up and everything! (home cooked bread highly recommend. Home made beer not so much!). Probably the highlight of our month in South Africa although the safari in Hluhluwe Game Reserve comes VERY close.

From the moment we were picked up, we had a great day travelling up the Sani Pass into Lesotho with our guide Tsebo. He was very organised, informative & very funny and let the day flow at a nice pace and nothing was too much of a problem. The trip itself was excellent as we steadily drove up the Sani Pass until we finally reached Lesotho. We were shown various wildlife en route & took the village option which was very interesting. We then stopped off for a picnic with outstanding views all around and the day was capped off with a drink at the highest pub in Africa !

Today my family and I did the Sani Pass tour with our guide Tsebo. We had a great time despite the misty cold and rainy weather. Tsebo had so much to share and was very happy to answer our many questions. He was also very skilled at spotting birds and several animals we encountered along the way. He told us that despite the rain in South Africa that the weather may be clear in Lesotho and he was right! We found a bit of sun at the top. Very informative visit to a village and then a fun lunch at the Highest Bar in Africa. We never felt the slightest concern for our safety with Tsebo’s excellent driving skills. I highly recommend for families. .

What an amazing time we had with Roof Top of Africa Tours. Our guide, Peter, made the whole experience unforgettable.

The 6 hr tour kicked off at 9:15 AM and finished at 3:15 PM. They picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel, which was so convenient. We paid adult price for our 4-year-old son to guarantee a private tour, and it was totally worth it! The Sani Pass transit was incredible, and we got some awesome photo stops along the way. We even found some snow to play in!

We visited a Basotho village and tried out the local beer and homemade bread. Peter was full of interesting stories and made the cultural experience so much fun.

Lunch at the Highest Pub in Africa had breathtaking views. The menu options were a bit limited due to may items being out of stock. We didn't get a chance to have the included tea and coffee break, but that did not detract from our overall experience. Highly recommended.

What an excellent day trip to Lesotho and trip up the Sani Pass. Our guide/driver Sthem was excellent - a good sense of humour and told us the info we needed rather than too much. Also a safe driver.

Great way to see a little part of Lesotho. Great picnic lunch with an amazing view - so much better than sitting in a Cafe or restaurant.

Make sure you book the longer tour.

The tour was such a exceptional experience. Bucket list item for sure! Peter our driver and guide was wonderful, polite, friendly, knowledgeable and made our ride up the pass really pleasurable, his driving skills are outstanding as well! I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a tour up Sani Pass. The snow was really the cherry on top and made it a day that we will remember for a long time to come. Our guide Mo was a really great guide. He explained a lot about Lesotho, the people and their way of life. We visited a village where ladies showed us some traditional dance and singing, traditional clothing.. Ofcourse we got to try it on as well.
The way to the village was a little bit difficult for my mother in law to walk.. climbing up a steep hill, she's not so young anymore. But the people where lovely.
The Sani Pass is beautiful and a real adventure.
I would recommend it for sure, and take Mo along😉

This is a must do trip. The scenery, the experience and the service from "Roof of Africa tours" was brilliant.
I was expecting a gravel track up a steep incline/decline but what I experienced was true 4x4 adventure. It was a track, it was a river bed, sometimes it just looked like the cliff face but our vehicle continued upwards and onwards. Note: it's a paved road up to the ZA border and the actual pass is just dirt, made, gravel, boulders and cliff drops with jaw breaking views if weather permits.
Our guide was passionate about this area, about this road and gave me a new place to love in Africa.
Make sure you do this trip ASAP before this little piece of historical Africa is paved away under a modern road
