Review of Die Laaitjie

At first sight the place seem dull ,but the longer you stay, the more u will enjoy.I was sorry I read reviews which painted a negative picture.(you cant come to the bush and expect to live a city life). The historical value of the buildings should be kept.
The serenity of the place really got hold of me and we enjoyed every moment.
On our departure day we even were told to take our time and we could clock out at any time.

Do yourself a favour and make a stop at the Four Cousins Winery & Restaurant. Excellent location, great menu, and you can, as a bonus, buy some great wines on the way out!

Front initial contact to our stay and departure we received good service. Everyone we enjoyed with was friendly and helpful. The place is lovely and the photos don’t do the backyard justice. It’s a lovely little piece of heaven in a lovely little town.

We booked the main house and two cottages for a weekend and had a wonderful time. The house itself, the surrounding area and views are perfect. The house is extremely well stocked, and Marcell was an absolutely pleasure to deal with and very responsive to any queries we had.

What a lovely place to stay for our first night of a 10 day Cape Tour. We arrived at the international airport and I it took us just 2 hours to get here and to arrive in one of the biggest rooms we have ever seen. The bathroom alone had 2 separate showers !. Amazing. We ate here in the evening and also breakfast the next stay. Our tine was limited but I wish we had spent 2 days here and there are plenty of vineyards and wineries in the area that would warrant a 2 day stay.

Overall our stay was wonderful, the room, food and service was superb. Our only mown was that the central billing team messed up payment for the room and didn’t take the payment from booking.com, which took a few days and several emails to resolve. Otherwise, everything was excellent and we would happily stay here again

We stayed here recently whilst visiting the area. It was my birthday weekend and we arrived to complementary flowers and wine in our room which was a lovely touch. The accommodation was first class with our room opening up to a small balcony with access to a plunge pool. The bed was super comfortable and everything was very clean and sparkling. We ate at the hotel's restaurant and were not disappointed; the food was of the highest quality. The breakfast was also very good with a choice of a wide range of healthy food and fresh juices. We would not hesitate in recommending The Robertson Small Hotel to anyone passing through.

Review of Orange Grove

We had a wonderful stay on that beautiful Orange Grove farm. A lovely house, nicely decorated and in the kitchen everything you might need. The surroundings quite, peaceful and with the opportunity to have a few different walks. A perfect stay with the braai- and breakfast baskets, yummi!

Spent two wonderful days and nights at the Manor House on the Excelsior Estate. Our room was very spacious, and was furnished tastefully with period furniture from around the world. The food and hospitality including complimentary wine with dinner was a fantastic bonus, and both Kirstin and James providing a friendly and impeccable professional service. We used the Golf Buggy that was made available to guests to explore the Estate and thoroughly enjoyed the wine blending and wine tasting activities. Look forward to returning in the future.

We stayed only one night but we enjoyed every minute. The owners, Hilde and Luc took so good care of us. We even had a fantastic 3 course dinner. Hilde cooked and Luc served us. This place is a gem, nicely renovated with a very good taste. Beautiful garden and pool area. We spent the hole time inside the property.
We definitely have to come back!

Review of Viljoensdrift

Great river cruise but after having to complete online indemnity forms I was surprised to see young children running around without life jackets on and the gangway had only one chain across and the bottom chain was missing. No wonder we had to submit indemnity forms! Basic health and safety regulations were not followed. The deli had an extremely surly, aggressive and unfriendly person working there and as I had intended to do a wine tasting I was put off by her arrogance and no longer wanted to engage with her. Unfortunately did not get to taste their wine as frankly couldn't wait to leave. Also there's no atmosphere and no furnishings. Worst vineyards I visited in South Africa 😞 I do not recommend!

DON'T MISS THIS EXPERIENCE!! We spent a fantastic couple of hours at the Marbrin Olive farm. Bryony and Clive certainly have a passion for their farm and what they produce. The Olive oil was the best I have tasted in my life, and the Olive Oil & the homemade Balsamic reduction was mindblowing. We not only tasted amazing produce, but we also had a great laugh at the same time. walked away with 3 oils, some Balsamic reduction and some home made Limoncello!! Bravo People... keep it up!!

We had a delightful lunch under the vines at Christina’s Bistro. It was wonderful to see how many groups of families and friends gather together to share a meal and special memories at this restaurant. The setting is beautiful in the garden with vines and trees all around you. The service and food was very good.

Excelsior Manor Guesthouse is a home from home. You are pampered from the moment you arrive by your hosts Kristin, James and Michelle.
Nothing is too much. The guesthouse is on a beautiful wine farm. It is the most relaxing break one can have. We have returned many times and sincerely hope to return many more. The area around the guesthouse has so much on offer as well. Many wineries, an olive farm, lavender farm, wonderful farm stalls, river cruise etc.
Saying that, the best time can also just be spent lying on a deck chair reading a book by the beautiful Excelsior pool.
