In March 2025, I had a deeply disappointing experience with JetBlue that I feel compelled to share.
I had purchased a ticket that included one carry-on bag, one personal item, and one checked bag. However, upon boarding, a visibly stressed crewmember abruptly took my carry-on bag, claiming there was no more space in the cabin. Without properly informing me, she wrote my seat number on a napkin and placed it on my carry-on bag. I was left confused and concerned, as no clear explanation was given at the time.
When I tried to clarify the situation and explain that I had paid for the carry-on bag, the same crewmember made the decision to deny me boarding altogether. She stated I would not be allowed to fly and that I should be rebooked onto the next flight. Although I did not feel comfortable flying under such circumstances, I accepted this solution in good faith.
Unfortunately, the problems continued. After deboarding, other staff members informed me that rebooking was not possible due to the fact that my ticket was part of the ‘Basic’ package. This contradicted the earlier promise made by the crew, resulting in two failed commitments from JetBlue.
Additionally, I was told that only customer service could process rebookings. When I contacted them, I encountered a one-hour wait before speaking to a representative. Ultimately, they were unable to assist, as the check-in desk for the next flight had already closed.
Due to this ordeal, I had to arrange an overnight stay and incur additional expenses.
Summary of issues:
• Paid carry-on bag was forcibly removed without clear communication.
• Denied boarding without valid justification.
• Rebooking on next flight was promised and not honored.
• Customer service was slow and ineffective.
• Incurred additional costs due to JetBlue’s operational failures.
I found the behavior of the staff unprofessional and unacceptable. The head crewmember involved appeared overwhelmed and poorly equipped to handle customer concerns, and she also refused to identify herself when approached. This raises serious concerns about the quality of service and accountability within JetBlue’s operations.
Recommendation:
Based on this experience, I would not recommend flying with JetBlue. The service quality was extremely poor, promises were not kept, and the handling of customer issues was unprofessional and disorganized.
