This was our first of four camps on our safari adventure. After the unexpected trauma of the "mosquito flight" we were delighted by the reception we received at camp which continued throughout our stay. Everyone was so friendly and catered for our every need even the ones that we did not know we had. There are many memorable moments, the tents are magnificent and we were very lucky to be able to stay in adjoining ones. The quality of dining and I have to say drinking were fabulous and we will never forget our special sundowner evening in the bush. One thing we have discussed is the way in which the staff integrated all the guests, we met some lovely people who we may not have even got into conversation with left to ourselves. Communal dining really helped to get everyone mixing. We did not see all we might have hoped for but that is safari and what we did see was wonderful especially the bird life and large herds of elephants. Especial thanks to our super guide Lucky and his assistant Oris, Annelle(hope that I have spelt it right) Kele and all the staff too numerous to mention individually.
Hope that we may be able to return one day
Regards to all

Thank you Vivienkearns for your fabulous review, we are delighted you had such a great stay and that our staff took care of you so well.

The communal dining is a firm favourite in most of our camps; being able to share adventures and experiences as strangers and leave as friends. Learning new cultures and ways of life, all this is the reason why we travel and which is great to share.

Thank you again,
The Team at Savuti

We arrived here from the Okavango Delta already fully impressed from our previous days. And yet, Savuti pulls out all the stops. The common area has stunning views where you simply need to build in time to gaze. In fact, I wish I did make the time, but I was pulled into the gift shop every time I passed it. For those wondering where you may buy your souvenirs aside from the airport, this was the best gift shop. A selection of baskets to pick from, but you may want to know the staff in case you want to buy a basket weaved by them. They had bracelets, candle holders, aprons, wooden bowls, cute figurines, etc. The rooms were large and nicely decorated, huge porch area. The shower is massive and wonderful. There is a separate toilet, but keep in mind that you can hear everything because there is a net window looking straight into your room net window. They do wash your 'smalls' so no need to pack extra or hand wash unmentionables. They provide shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and bug spray; very helpful when trying to pack light. The food was delicious. I couldn't stop eating even though I wasn't hungry. From a game perspective, we had just come from two other camps and had seen nearly everything we wanted to see, except for the wild dogs. This is the place! Wow, so intense searching for them and seeing the pack come out of the woods. Amazing and beautiful! We did see elephants, giraffe, birds galore, and yawning hippos with beautiful landscapes in the background. Not sure if it was our travel outfit, but they set up evening cocktail hours out in the reserve as surprise endings to our game sightings. Simply stunning views with the sunset as the backdrop.

Thank you Ovenbird for your brilliant review, we are delighted you were finally able to spot the Wild Dogs, the pack is truly a great thing to see.

The cocktail sundowners is just one of the camps little Wow factors/ surprises that the staff like to arrange as a treat for the guests. There are many different little treats the camp organises but as they like to keep these as a surprise we will not go into any further detail. You will just have to come back and see what other little tricks they are able to whip together in the bush.

Thank you again,
The Savuti Team

The first of our four Wilderness camps in Botswana. In terms of wildlife viewing, it was very poor during our visit. I'm not just talking about big game which the area is renowned for but even the general game sightings were few and far between and especially so when driving through those mopane woodlands. Guests on other vehicles didn't fare much better either. Having said all that, wildlife viewing is variable and seasonal. It was mid-November, the beginning of the rainy season and we could be really unlucky during our 3 nights there. The camp itself was fabulous. Top notch service and food quality. Smart big classic safari tent with a private deck overlooking the stunning Savuti Channel. All the amenities necessary for a comfortable stay but no outdoor shower though. Food was delicious and abundant. Dinner time was made special by the staff who sang and danced for us. All in all, a high quality camp of Wilderness.

We are sorry to hear your game viewing was such a let down. The game can be very unpredictable, even more so when the rain season starts and the afternoon thunder showers take over the skies.

One of Africa's most valued treasures has to be her thunderstorms. November is the beginning of our rainy season at Savuti Camp and with multiple lightning flashes and roaring thunderstorms we had 60 mm of rain for the month. We also enjoyed many cloudy days which made the heat a little bearable and our average maximum temperature was 39º Celsius with a minimum of 19º. Our guests were treated to lightning shows during dinner and a few were rained on during afternoon drives but the best part of it all is that it's now really green with the bush suddenly a thick, lush oasis!

Thank you again and we hope you are able to return soon when we will be able to show you a more diverse selection of game.

TIDINESS:
Impeccable

Spacious, luxurious safari

STAFF:
Similar to all Wilderness Safari's accommodations, the staff are passionate, approachable and very friendly. Grab a chair and a drink and swap stories from your game drive.

COMMENTS:
Spacious caravan tent with a thatched canopied roof with stunning views of the Savuit channel. Each room has an ensuite with his and her sinks and a separate private toilet. Fans and mosquito nets are also included. Rooms have a small desk and sitting area perfect for down time during the afternoon. Game viewing in the area is excellent with elephants, hippos, impala's, waterbuck and the odd lion, wild dogs, baboons and many, many birds ( in December at least)

Thank you DKlaver for your wonderful review, we are thrilled to see you had such an enjoyable experience with us.

We have been spoilt with brilliant bird sightings at the start of the season; for birders this was an extraordinary month with African fish-eagles fighting and martial eagles hunting and catching mongoose, and even African spoonbill. The beautiful woodland kingfisher has finally arrived from its long journey travelling south from Europe. The carmine bee-eaters are still around, though for how long we are unsure – still, it is an absolute delight to visit their breeding colony and see their magnificent display of colours flying around us.

Thank you again and we look forward to your return visit.

We visited in mid November, the start of the green season, and they had already had some rain about three weeks before. As a result the bush was now thick with fresh green leaves making it far more difficult to spot the game. The guides are fantastic though and are so tuned in to their surroundings. Believe me if there is game there, then they will find it. Just don`t expect to see vast herds of animals as at this time of the year they disperse into the bush. We saw everything that we wanted to, plus a lot more besides, but you have to be patient. We stayed for three days and despite the season we had three leopard sightings over two days, two wild dog sightings over two days, lion sightings every day. Elephants were numerous and we had tent 1 .....with elephants right outside the front door. On one occasion 10 meters away.
If you are interested in birds, flowers/plants, and other wildlife then it is impossible to have a bad safari. If you only want to see the big five etc. then you have to accept that in nature nothing can be guaranteed. We have fallen in love with Africa, having done many safaris over the past eleven years and there is so much more to offer besides the wildlife. The beautiful scenery, the sounds of the bush, the sunsets and the night skies all add to the experience.
As other people have said in their reviews this is a wonderful camp with wonderful people. What more can be achieved at a camp site hundreds of miles from "so called" civilisation I don`t know.
The accommodation is superb, the food is great and of gourmet standards, everywhere is clean, and the setting is a paradise.
We were almost in tears when we left because after only three days there we felt like we were leaving good friends. All of the staff were charming and never stopped smiling. Indeed we came to see the wildlife but for us the "icing on the cake " was the personnel. We loved our short time with you and thank you so much for your hospitality.

Thank you Geoff G for your fantastic review, we are thrilled to see what a great experience you had.

We are thrilled to see you were lucky enough to have such great sightings, especially so soon after what has been dubbed as "Suicide Month". With maximum temperatures ranging between 44º and 46º Celsius and the evenings not cooling down to much below 15º, all living creatures in the Linyanti realised that summer is here in its full glory. We did however have a little relief when the first summer rains delivered 5mm of precipitation, just enough to give all the trees, birds, animals and humans renewed hope and relief from the heat. Alongside the channel, the landscape has come alive with green leaves decorating the beautiful trees once again.

Thank you again and we hope to see you return soon,
The Team at Savuti
