In 12 Hofmeyr we have tried to capture in a guesthouse what you have said you desire and appreciate when you travel: comfort and intimacy, modern amenities, local design, a great neighbourhood in a central location and a curated experience. Our Victorian house has just undergone a major renovation and in doing so we have tried to conserve as many of the old existing Victorian features as possible, while throwing in a huge dose of funk, design and local flavour. The result is an unusual blend of old and new, of both form and function. We believe that 12 Hofmeyr offers you the opportunity to stay in Cape Town as a Capetonian and to have a unique local experience.

We were woken up at 1am by the police breaking up a domestic dispute downstairs that lasted about an hour. We informed Michael about the issue and sent him videos of what we were experiencing. He then let us stay another night free of charge because of this inconvenience and we were very grateful.. Therefore we left a 5 star reviewing raving about our stay and his property. The second night, we had one of the other guests try and break into our room.. this is a shared home with several other guests staying in the home at the same time. We left the property the next morning after cleaning our space thoroughly, throwing out all trash, washing all dishes and placing them in the dishwasher, gathering all dirty towels into a pile in the tub, etc.... the owner of this property was not even there after check out and still decided to give us a ONE STAR review with how we left our room. Which he was completely in the wrong about... We left it in typical condition and cleaned up after ourselves... we also have no idea if another guest was able go into our room after our check out. Another woman, Lisa works for him to maintain the property, yet somehow he is still able to write the reviews without being physically there himself. I am appalled at his negative review of us after the several inconveniences that we endured... and after the 5 star review we gave him. This guy is unbelievable, completely out of touch, and unreasonable.

We recently stayed for 5 nights at this quirky B and B. It's location is fantastic- just off kloof street- a hip happening street, full of good restaurants, but even though it is so close to such a popular night time venue, Hofmeyr is always very peaceful. The b and B is very quaint, there are only 4 rooms, the owner does not live on site, there is a contact number should there be a problem, other than that guests just see cheryl and Alex, who come in daily to prepare breakfast and make up the rooms. Our room (the red room), was not terribly big, but we really didn't spend a lot of time in there so it suited us. Our one slight problem was with the fact that property has a spiral staircase to the upstairs- where our room was located, meaning the bottom floor and top floor were not shut off for noise purposes. We found that on mornings when we may have slept a little later the sounds of breakfast preparation and room cleaning downstairs woke us up. It was a minor disturbance though, we loved Capetown, Hofmeyr is a great location to stay, to be close but apart at the same time.

We had a good stay at this venue. It is centrally located and close to the good restaurants in Cape Town. The room was well equipped. If you have so mobility issues - do not book the rooms on the 1st floor - the spiral staircase may be problematic.

The boutique is located in a quiet neighborhood close by the main street where the nice restaurants are. We could exchange with the owner with WhatsApp which was very convenient for the check-in time. We loved the deco in the lobby and the room was very charming too. Our flight was in the evening and the owner allowed us to check-out later on our last day and this was well appreciated as we could take a shower after our escape to table-mountain!

Charming besutifully decorated cottage in a quiet leafy street with absolute attention to every detail. We were in the white room which is beautifully decorated with a gorgeous bathroom. It was so cosy it was diffficult to leave. The welcome was warm and the breakfasts really yummy. Despite the fact that the house is two minutes walk to the cosmopolitan Kloof Street with its numerous restaurants and art gallery's and ten minutes from the city centre the locality is blissfully quiet and peaceful..We will definately use this edtablishment again.
