We attended a family funeral close by. The hosts were sympathetic to our plight and were wonderfully accommodating. Our rooms were clean, breakfast was scrumptious and overall we were very comfortable. Thank you The Smith Family

Overall the service was good and the room was as described. The shower was a bit fiddly but despite this, we would consider returning to El cazador if the opportunity presents itself and recommend it to others.

Geoff and Anna-lize were wonderful hosts! They were so accommodating, as we had a very long day(s) getting in and were hungry, helped us get some food delivered before heading to a restful night! Breakfast was GREAT every morning, and we traveled during the day, so weren't able to make use of the pool. Relaxed and enjoyed the little time we were here, and hope to visit again soon! We added on the pick up from O.R. Tambo (very good driver to hotel) and air conditioning, along with breakfast - recommend all three!

We are a couple from the Netherlands: 75 and 76 years old. Stayed in total 11 nights. The guesthouse looks abandoned, and the service is not great. Air conditioning is NOT included in the price! On the direct website this is not mentioned. On a Sunday we came back from Hoedspruit, and the next morning we arrived just after 09:00 for breakfast. We were hungry and wanted eggs. Well... the owneress said (very agitated) "wait 10 minutes"! Than she and her husband plus some family had what appeared a lovely breakfast. We were never catered anymore. Another time when we came back early in the evening our room door was unlocked. When we mentioned this the next morning the owneress snapped at us "must have been the maid!" (...really...?). Then we were presented on the day of departure with an invoice, luckily enough their 'best wifi in Town' didn't work. And when my son checked the invoice at his place we all became aware of the extra charging for Airco! While we did have the remote most of the times in the room (at one point it went missing) we only used it once. We asked via e-mail whether the owners of the guesthouse could reconcile the invoices. They refused, accused my son of beeing a liar! The location of El Cazador is really nice, the rooms are ok (no shower in our room, bit of a challenge when you are seniors) but the lack of service, blatant rudeness and falsley advertising should be a warning for those who want to stay there. Bring your own fan and eggs, and avoid the owneress!

Response from ElCazadorGuestHouse, Owner at El Cazador
Responded 07 Nov 2017
This is a completely fabricated review by the son hosting his elderly parents from Holland with us in late September and early October 2017. Interestingly, the profile he used has recently been created locally. His parents speak no English, so a further indication that they did not write the review. At no point during their stay was there any negative feedback or indication of unhappiness, either by the parents or by the son. Our establishment offers good flexibility for all budgets from room only to complete luxury. The parents paid for room with air-con for 12 nights and breakfast for the first morning only. On the second morning, it transpired that their plans had changed and priding ourselves on flexibility, we then provided full breakfast every morning subsequently expecting the bill to be settled as agreed at check out. Their check out was rather hasty due to the son arriving late and rather than keep them waiting trying to re-establish ABSA server card machine connection (not our wifi), we passed the invoice to the son, who promised to pay for his parents' additional breakfasts after they flew back to Holland that evening. We sent the invoice electronically and several reminders thereafter for the outstanding amount. We have had no emails from the parents as stated above, the room was personally selected by the son a few months prior to their arrival. The reconciliation request is also fabricated as the second invoice is purely for the additional breakfasts. The son does not respond to the emails and does not take our calls. 4 weeks later, his response is an unfounded, cheap and nasty fabricated review on a brand new profile created in South Africa. Blatant dishonesty and pathetic to say the least.

We dropped our bags so quickly to get to another appointment, didn't take note of the aircon remote. Just remember to ask for that. Geoff was friendly, the room was so clean, the view awesome, all was so peaceful.
