- Laura SSalt Lake City, Utah63 contributionsNice ride and good views-can only ride when not windyVery clean and very safe experience! We were here one day and it was very windy. Did not know we needed to look at the website to see if the cars were running so we asked one of the many people who were standing around and they told us that bc of the high winds the cars would not be running the remainder of the day. Would have been nice to see a sign around about the no cars but o well. We came back the next day after checking their not very informative website and saw things would be working. We hiked up the long way (4.5 hours) bc there is only 1 trail that leads to the cable cars and restaurant, etc., We only took the car down but it was very nice. The ground revolves around so all people get nice views all the way down. A little pricey for the 1 way, 5 min ride down but was worth it.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 April 2023
- JBWWhitley Bay, United Kingdom155 contributionsFantastic!Fantastic day. Lovely warm, sunny day. Don’t be put off by the queues as it goes down quite quickly and is definitely worth it. Earlier you get there the better. No queues to come down. Fantastic views and facilities at the top.Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten 9 April 2023
- lolipop177Liverpool, United Kingdom78 contributionsYou have to do this at sunset it’s unbelievableThe cable cars are the easiest and quickest way up Table mountain, not to mention safest. We wanted to hike up for sunset and cable car down but we left it too late. There is a pub at the top and the views are just incredible. It’s fab up there and I wished we’d have had more time in Cape Town to do this again! It can be unsafe to hike in the dark make sure you’re in a group or get a guide off air b&b. We got an Uber right to the cable cars and ordered our Uber when we were stood in the queue to come back down after sunset. The last cable car coming down is 7.30 pmVisited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 April 2023
- Emma THong Kong, China15 contributionsGood Touristy ExperienceThe cable car itself is packed and only lasts for 5 minutes. If you're up for it, I would recommend hiking up, I would definitely be hiking instead next tine. However, it's not very shaded so I would avoid doing this in the summer. The views from the top are great!Visited April 2023Written 9 April 2023
- Rachel BLondon, United Kingdom54 contributionsMust doYou simply cannot come to Cape Town and not do this! We were really luckily with an amazing sunny day. I wish we had left more time so we could have done the longer walk. The queues go down quickly and you can buy a ticket with card or cash when you get there. very handy it had wifi so we could book an uber back to our hotel.Visited May 2022Written 10 April 2023
- Sheri DSimi Valley, California188 contributionsTable Mountain Aerial Cableway Spectacular Views and Long LinesMy husband and I recently visited Table Mountain Aerial Cableway and while we loved the views from the top, the wait in the sun was a bit of a challenge. We recommend that visitors get there early to avoid the long lines. We could see for miles in every direction and it was a great opportunity to take in the natural beauty of Cape Town. We also enjoyed exploring the top and taking plenty of photos.Visited March 2023Written 11 April 2023
- Kyle W7 contributionsAmazing Views and hikesThe views, and hikes were beautiful and once you hiked out, you could get to many areas away from crowds. Weather can bring winds which could cancel trips up which happened earlier in the week. Plan accordingly!Visited November 2022Written 13 April 2023
- Thecatsmum4Kettering, United Kingdom2,234 contributionsQuick and efficient Excellent viewsWow the views as you go up or down are fantastic, and the car revolves inside the pod so that you get a 360 degree view. It is a bit unnerving as you go by the open window part, if you don't like heights stand in the middle. You can buy your tickets online, we did a morning trip and although busy we didn't have to wait long to board.Visited January 2023Written 19 April 2023
- bsinghGandhinagar, India185 contributionsNice viewsBeing a major attraction in Cape Town , it is generally crowded. We reached there at 10 am but had to wait in the queue for more than an hour. Better to book online. You can then save about 15 -20 minutes. While going up and from the top , you get nice views of Cape Town and it’s different beaches. There are gardens and restaurants on the top.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 April 2023
- Kaz2525Melbourne, Australia75 contributionsTable MountainGreat way to see the sights around Cape Town. Our wait was only 15 minutes to get up to the top of the mountain. We went up in the sunshine and it was lovely (did our trip up early in the day). Very well organised and people kept moving, only downside was lack of Covid-19 protocols.Visited April 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 27 April 2023

I arrived at 7:20am (with the sim to avoid the 1-2hr advertised queues)and was first in the queue. More people turned up before the first cable car at 8:00am.
The cable car holds 64 people and has a rotating floor, so you get great panoramic views on the trip.
I spent about 40 minutes at the top and there was only one other person in the cable car on the way down.
This was a fantastic experience.

Wheelchair friendly twelve apostle area is I need of change…
My name is Daryl Bird and I took a number of wheelchair clients up Table Mountain recently and found the area of the Twelve Apostles not as wheelchair friendly as it should be..
As a suggestion you put a cement paving on the inner side overlooking the amazing views to make easier for electric chair ( it’s quite difficult to navigate as it’s uneven at the moment)
The normal wheelchair not much different as well.
You guys also expect the wheel chair guests to come back the same way … please change that route for them , as it’s painful and not fair.
So please look into this

This created a new core memory. The views were stunning, the staff were friendly and helpful, and we had a fantastic time. An absolute must-visit for panoramic views of the city and its surroundings. We used Cape Town City Passes for a single entry and got there using the City Sightseeing Bus. Bring your walking shoes and your camera, and brace yourself for winds. Wear plenty of sunscreen.

Amazing 7th Natural Wonder. What an experience, the cable ride is a quick 4 minute ride so if are scared of heights no need to be it’s over in a blink of an eye.
We completed the McLears Beacon walk (90minute) round trip from the top viewing area. A great hike with magic views back to Cape Town and Caves Beach.
There is a bar & cafe at the top serving perfect treats

This is an amazing view of the city of the ocean and the mountains. Free GPS audio tour is good. Download the app before you get there. It should be updated though some of the signs referred to are no longer there. It would be better if the last cable car down was a bit later given that sunset was happening just when the last cable car was going down. Do not use the white booth to buy an online ticket. It does not work. I had a delicious latte and cheesecake while watching the sun set.

This is definitely a must do when visiting Cape Town. We were lucky the weather was good as fog can be a problem as well as fires. In fact it was closed down the day before because of fires. The view and ride up is fantastic. We walked around taking in the breathtaking view on this clear day. The aerial cableway provided a comfortable ride to the top. All of it was well worth the trip.
After reading the disappointment others experienced with long waits, we avoided all of that with our wonderful tour company Jaret. I will be writing a review for them shortly. Simply put they are amazing and handled our tours of Cape Town professionally. They were recommended by The One & Only where we stayed as well as the Cape Grace. We could not have been happier. All our tickets were obtained by them in advance and we walked right into all the attractions.

We took the bus and get off at the gate. Very easy.
I was wondering why the afternoon tickets are cheaper. Is it more likely to be cloudy then? We are visiting Cape town in July

When we visited in December, it was way too hot and sunny in the afternoon and that explained the low footfall and the lower price. I have no idea abt the July weather though

Muchas apologies for only replying now. I only got home last night after 217 days away to Antarctica. Re the Cableway, even if there is a queue the cable cars take quite a lot of people so waiting time is usually not much. However, be aware of wind forecasts, and it often blows on the mountain when down in the city it is calm. While I was away my family and friends went up to view the disas and as the wind had come up they could not take the car down and had to hike instead which is NOT easy on the legs.
Hi,can l buy the ticket today in advance like for 19 September 2020

I would actually advise you to buy it in advance to avoid the queue...
However, in advance could be now but, it can also be a few hours before actually going. We did the latter just a few hours before, through our hotel concierge. We wanted to ensure that we could go up...
As soon as there is wind or other unfavourable weather conditions the cablecar doesn't work.
I have met many people who have been in Capetown for a few days but couldn't go up due to weather.

can I confirm please - If I book tickets for table mountain on my mobile phone do I need to get a print out of the actual ticket or does an e-ticket on the mobile phone work. Reason for asking is that I would like to decide on the day (clear weather hopefully) and being a tourist won't have an easy way to print things off. Thanks for any advise
